Majority Leader Annabi Announces Vote on New Law
Targets Dangerous Weapons in Schools
YONKERS, NY -- At the request of the Yonkers Police Department, Yonkers City Council Majority Leader Sandy Annabi, (D - District 2) has brought to a vote legislation to outlaw the carrying of box cutters and other dangerous weapons on school grounds. The legislation was discussed in several meetings of the Legislation & Codes Committee, where it was reviewed and commented upon by the Yonkers Police Department, community members, and the Law Department, including the City’s principal prosecutor. The City Council will be voting on the measure tonight, March 25, 2008 at their regularly scheduled meeting at 8pm.
