This is a lesson in Yonkers politic 101 via the Spano Family dynasty which still operates under the aegis of former Senator Nick Spano (upper right) through its only visible “head” Assemblyman Mike Spano.

It’s 10:00 a,m., January 2, 2012, in Yonkers, New York. Two days after leaving the office of mayor, former Yonkers Mayor Philip A. Amicone , incapable of rescinding term limits, is found addressing his former staff who have joined him in the real world. It is a small remnant of the usual characters for a light brunch meeting at the Amackassin Club.

If I was in charge, I would say, “Mr Mayor, you have failed and now you’re fired.”
Like ancient Egypt, we have had seven good years preceeding your election as mayor to the City of Yonkers. Unfortunately for us, you have given us the seven bad years. Very soon it will be time for the people of Yonkers to be delivered from your grip and be led to better times.

The upcoming Yonkers City Council elections for city council president and three, term limited city council vacancies, four out of seven total seats that comprise the city council, is extremely important to the near future election for Mayor of Yonkers in 2011.
This election is all about control of the process and the future direction of our local government.

First things first; Yonkers is a one party city. It has shared interests. The interests shared are favor,
patronage, and contributions. Those who rule and share are a special group.
They are at once visible and also behind the scenes. They control money or the
party vote- getting apparatus or sometimes both. Real discussions are quiet and
not public. Self interest is the essence of operations. Business is expensive.
No business is more expensive. Few are involved, yet many are called upon, and
used. Elections are costly, but Primaries would be costlier.

After reading Dr.
Ed U. Cator’s article on the Yonkers Public (Political) Schools and the
Inspector General’s report, and the Mayor's response to the use of City vehicles
and free gas, it continues to confirm my belief, that after 14 years at the top

Yonkers has endured 14 years of vision driven development plans and rhetoric. Six of those years under Mayor Amicone who was moved from the bleachers to the dugout without ever stopping in the bullpen. If his “game” were superimposed on a baseball field or golf course, his twin loves, extra bases and innings, as well as more holes, would have to be added to extend his play. Perhaps inviting the rescinding of term limits next year. In the meanwhile, it seems that Mayor Amicone is not able to complete the game(plan).
