This is a lesson in Yonkers politic 101 via the Spano Family dynasty which still operates under the aegis of former Senator Nick Spano (upper right) through its only visible “head” Assemblyman Mike Spano.

It’s 10:00 a,m., January 2, 2012, in Yonkers, New York. Two days after leaving the office of mayor, former Yonkers Mayor Philip A. Amicone , incapable of rescinding term limits, is found addressing his former staff who have joined him in the real world. It is a small remnant of the usual characters for a light brunch meeting at the Amackassin Club.

If I was in charge, I would say, “Mr Mayor, you have failed and now you’re fired.”
Like ancient Egypt, we have had seven good years preceeding your election as mayor to the City of Yonkers. Unfortunately for us, you have given us the seven bad years. Very soon it will be time for the people of Yonkers to be delivered from your grip and be led to better times.

MHA = Makes History Again; or
MHA = Mayor Helps Arthur
In the continuing saga of our great City of Yonkers, new and old timers alike have to wonder how long it took Mayor Blamicone a/k/a Amicone to settle on the name of Arthur "Mike" Doran to fill a vacant seat on the Yonkers Municipal Housing Authority Board Board of Directors.

Is Yonkers Mayor Phil Amicone to blame for that which he is to be held accountable? If we are to hold him responsible, then we can also find fault.
The theme or mantra promoted by Mayor Amicone over the last six years has been economic development, education, and a better, safer Yonkers. He said he would achieve this without partisan politics, with open government, cost savings, and reaping the tax benefits of his guesstimate revenue stream of millions of dollars. This, combined with thousands of new jobs both temporary and permanent would well serve the residents of Yonkers. He, Mayor Amicone, may even become the "little Bloomberg on the Hudson."

First things first; Yonkers is a one party city. It has shared interests. The interests shared are favor,
patronage, and contributions. Those who rule and share are a special group.
They are at once visible and also behind the scenes. They control money or the
party vote- getting apparatus or sometimes both. Real discussions are quiet and
not public. Self interest is the essence of operations. Business is expensive.
No business is more expensive. Few are involved, yet many are called upon, and
used. Elections are costly, but Primaries would be costlier.
