DiNapoli: Westchester Economy Outperformed Rest of New York

Dinapoli_nyscomptrollerthomas ALBANY, NY -- New York State Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli today released a report on the Westchester County economy showing that job growth exceeded the statewide rate due largely to gains in the financial services sector.  DiNapoli’s report cautioned that continuing Wall Street job cuts, stemming from the collapse of the subprime mortgage market, could have a significant impact on the Westchester economy.

DiNapoli: Nyack Schools Issued $1.2 Million in Contracts without Complying with Bidding Laws

ALBANY, NY -- Nyack Union Free School District officials did not comply with competitive bidding laws when they awarded nearly $1.2 million in security and cleaning contracts for the 2005-06 fiscal year, according to an audit by State Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli. Additionally, the audit found that contrary to school board policy, district officials did not seek out lower fees for legal services before spending $165,545 for that work.
