New York Racing Association Deal Pours $26 Million into Yonkers Raceway

Klein and Stewart-Cousins Bring Bucks Home to DistrictKlein_senjeff_2

Asc_headshot_2 ALBANY, NY --Today Senator Jeff Klein (D-Westchester/Bronx) and Senator Andrea Stewart-Cousins (D-Yonkers) voted to pass legislation to pour an additional $26 million into Yonkers Raceway. The funding constitutes the largest portion of a $70 million package of additional revenue for the eight tracks that have video-lottery terminals (VLTs), including Finger Lakes Racing and Gaming in Ontario County, Batavia Downs, and Tioga and Vernon.

Senator Stewart-Cousins Saves Dobbs Ferry Hospital from Closing

Sen. Stewart-Cousins Applauds New York State Housing Grant for Children's Village

Asc_headshot_2 DOBBS FERRY, NY -- Sen. Andrea Stewart-Cousins applauded the recent announcement by Governor Spitzer that Children’s Village has been approved for a $4.9 financing grant to renovate 112 affordable housing units located on its Dobbs Ferry campus. The funding is part of larger financing package that is providing a total of $43.9 million from two state housing agencies toward constructing or renovating 800 affordable housing units across the state.

NEW YORK, NY -- At the invitation of the New York City Councilman Leroy Comrie, Chairman of the Committee on Consumer Affairs, Senator Jeff Klein (D- The Bronx/Westchester) testified at a hearing in support of Proposed Resolution No. 430A, recommending that the state pass his proposed bill, S2269, which would reduce the number of policies that insurers can cancel in a single year without having to gain the approval of the State Insurance Department.

NEW YORK, NY -- Standing outside of Galaxy Photo, a seller of unofficial and unverified identification cards, State Senator Jeff Klein, (D-Bronx/Westchester), stood with New York City Council Speaker Christine Quinn and Cecilia Wolf of Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) to release a 37-page report detailing the ease with which minors can access alcohol.

SLEEPY HOLLOW, NY -- Standing in front of the Village Court and Police Station here, State Senators Andrea Stewart-Cousins and Jeff Klein, along with Westchester MADD representative Carole Sears, called today for an extension of New York’s Dram Shop Law liability to manufacturers and issuers of fake identification cards, as it is widely known that pervasive teen drinking is abetted by the ease of access to fake IDs.
