Young_mvstateofcity2008_2 MOUNT VERNON, NY -- There was anticipation in the air; it was neither positive nor negative – what would Mayor Clinton Young say? Mount Vernon had endured challenges few could fathom. Just shy of ninety days in office, Mayor Young seemed to have gone through a catharsis. The transition from County Legislator to Mayor of the City of Mount Vernon was a huge step and Mayor Young, with Mount Vernon by his side have shouldered the tragedy that befell Detective Ridley, the burden of high taxes, and the mismanagement and alleged criminal activity within City Hall.  Still, Mayor Young, has emerged energized and confident in his ability to govern a city in wait for direction, success, and pride in their evolution.

Mount Vernon Mayor-Elect Clinton Young Calls for Mayor Davis to Denounce "Legal" Action to Overturn Election

Young_clinton MOUNT VERNON, NY – This action is vindictive and defies logic and reason. The people of Mount Vernon have spoken. The election is over. Yet, there are a few members of the Davis campaign who cannot accept the election results despite the overwhelming voter turnout and decisive victory. Instead, these people seek to further divide and tear our city apart for their own self-serving interests.

MOUNT VERNON, NY – Standing upon the steps of Mount Vernon City Hall, Mayor Ernest Davis stood at the lectern, resolute in his decision not to drop out of the political race for Mayor of Mount Vernon after the loss of his party designation on Primary Day. In deciding to pursue the office for another four years, Mayor Davis was specifically told “it would be rough.” Davis said, “I have never been… so threatened! Regardless where this goes, regardless where it ends, I will be an example for the next generation.” Imparting the patriarchal wisdom that he shares with ease and benevolence, Davis said, “If you don’t stand for something, you will lay down for anything!” With a stern and admonishing tone, Mayor Davis said, “You have chosen the wrong man. We will be investigating the investigators.” Mayor Davis had invoked the Moreland Act Powers pursuant to Article VI, section 66, of the Mount Vernon City Charter by the appointment of Ravi Batra, Esq.

From the Desk of Mayor Ernest D. Davis

Davis_mayorernest_2 Open Letter to the Community of Mount Vernon

It has come to my attention that someone has maliciously sought to malign the character of my opponent, Clinton I. Young.  This strikes at the heart of decency and character assassination and cannot be condoned or appreciated.
