LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Hamas Attempt to Deligitimize the State of Israel By PHYLLIS HARTSTEIN

Hadassah_Westchester Region ofDear Editor,

On November 14th - in response to an escalation of rocket attacks from Gaza - the Israeli Defense Forces initiated Operation Pillar of Defense. Since the launch, and the killing of Hamas Commander and Chief-of-Staff Ahmed Jabari, Hamas has launched both a military and public relations campaign to destabilize and delegitimize the State of Israel.

Csea-locla 860 - unit 9200-logoThe truth; replacement employees from out of state were called in, many who left their own customers without power after severe storms in the south to come to New York.  They are staying in hotels in Westchester, provided meals in addition to their daily wage.  The customers will ultimately pay for these replacement employees

Mount Vernon City Council President Watts Insulted by Mayor-elect Davis’ Public Admonishment of Her, Mayor Young, and Comptroller Walker

WATTS_KARENLetter to the Editor By KAREN WATTS

The Council has been working very hard to get this budget process moving. Letters involving the concerns of the Council about the timeliness of the budget process were sent to the Office of the Mayor as far back as August - another in September, and yet another in November. If the budget had been presented on time, there would have been plenty of opportunities for all of these meetings to take place and still meet all deadlines.

An Open Letter to Herman Cain: Handle this Crisis Immediately or You are a Wrap By RONN TOROSSIAN

Torossian_RonnAfter an inspiring rise in the political campaign, in the last 48 hours your campaign is rapidly imploding Mr. Cain, and if you don’t turn this around quickly, your campaign is a wrap and a brief line in your obituary.  Watching your initial reaction on camera of a Reporter confronting you on the allegations was the definition of a “deer in headlights.”  You looked lost and confused.

Letter to the Editor: The Concern of Industry By THOMAS HURD

Letters_to_the_editor-hands on keyboardIt has been the subject of many news stories lately that it is a problem for industry in this country to find machinists with even rudimentary skills to work in our manufacturing facilities. Well the school year has started and Saunders Trade and Technical School in Yonkers has closed down the metal shop. The excuse is that there is no student interest, but I was a shop teacher there, and it just is not true. I polled my 9th grade students when I was there, and there were more than enough students interested in metal shop as a major to populate the program. Besides depriving the students of an important program, closing the metal shop marks the end of the very successful Robotics team that has done very well in the international First Robotics competition. Without mentors and a shop to build in the robotics club has nowhere to go. We need more parents to pay attention; and where is the school board? Most importantly, where is the vision and guidance for your students Mr. Pierorazio, Mr. Mazzola, Ms. Nola, Mr. Sanz, Ms Tolbert, and Ms. Malek? This will probably end any chance that I would be rehired, if there was any, but bringing this issue up is more important.

The Irony of Public Service in a Capitalist Nation By Joseph S. Lento

Letter_to_the_editor_image red face characture typing It is very interesting that ''public service'' has any role in a capitalist society and I believe this contradiction of expectations requires a factual analysis. I realize that initially a reader wants to know the political bent of the person whose work they are reading and I'll gladly oblige. I am a registered “Independent” and vote that way.

Letter to the Editor: Ephemeral "Meeting" BY Ed Krauss

Letter_to_the_editor_image red face characture typing Resuming peace talks with a Palestinian "partner' who doesn't have the "juice' to live up to any agreement he makes withIsrael is a waste of time.

The Palestinian "partner" who can live up to an agreement will only agree to the total destruction of Israel.

The conundrum is too complex for Solomon. The solution here, is 'drown the baby," cutting it in half is not enough.
