Yonkers, NY, September 29, 2010 -- Deputy Majority Leader and State Senator Jeff Klein (D-Bronx/Westchester) joined President of the 2nd Precinct Community Council Lorraine Palais, President of the Hyatt Association Larry Wilson, Councilman Dennis Shepherd and Yonkers residents to present a grant to The City of Yonkers for more than $200,000 on Wednesday to be used for the final phase of necessary flood mitigation.

Tuckahoe, NY, August 12, 2010 -- State Senator Jeff Klein (D-Bronx/Westchester), State Senator Diane Savino (D-Staten Island) and representatives from the Westchester Italian Cultural Center and the Sons of Italy announced the restoration of the NYS Italian Regents high school exam at a rally on Thursday. Last week the NYS Senate saved the exam from extinction when it passed the final piece of this year’s budget. Attendees rallied in support of this important achievement and to celebrate Italian culture.
Albany, NY, July 1, 2010 -- State Senator and Deputy Majority Leader Jeff Klein (D-Bronx/Westchester) announced Thursday that the NYS Senate passed his legislation mandating DNA collection upon arrest in an effort to put more criminals behind bars before they strike again. The announcement comes on the third anniversary of the tragic death of Syracuse resident Carol Nelson. On July 1, 2007, Nelson was brutally raped and murdered by a man who could have been behind bars had DNA been collected at the time of his 2006 arrest for rape.
