White Plains, NY, January 7, 2011 -- Rafael Roldan pleaded guilty today to murder and assault charges for setting a fire at 149 Waverly Place in Yonkers on October 2, 2009. This blaze resulted in serious injury to Firefighters Lt. Joe Murray and Firefighter William Kancyh and the death of Firefighter Patrick Joyce. Roldan’s plea brings with it a sentence of 20 years to life. He will be formally sentenced on April 12th.

June 17, 2010, New York, NY -- Preet Bharara (pictured), the Nnited States Attorney for the Southern District Court, and Rose Gill Hearn, the Commissioner of the New York City Department of Investigation ("DOI"), announced that Debby Denise Matthew Campbell, the former director of two New York City non-profits, pleaded guilty today before United States District Judge Robert P. Patterson to two counts of bank fraud arising out of Campbell’s work for a summer youth employment program funded by New York City and a federally funded after-school educational program.

Campbell’s Family Will Offer Prayer of Gratitude to Appellate Court and Witnesses as DiGuglielmo Returned to Prison
June 2, 2010, White Plains -- The family and friends of Charles Campbell will gather in front of the Westchester County Courthouse on June 3, 2010 at 9:00 a.m. for a prayer vigil before attending a hearing before Judge Barbara Zambelli where it is expected former off-duty police officer Richard D. DiGuglielmo will be ordered back to prison to complete his 20 years to life prison sentence for Campbell’s murder.

White Plains, NY -- Lev L. Dassin (pictured), the Acting United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York, and Joseph M. DeMarest, Jr.,the Assistant Director-in Charge of the New York Office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (“FBI”), announced that Albert Tranquillo III was sentenced today to 84 months of imprisonment on charges that he bribed the Supervisor of the Mount Vernon Department of Public Works to allow a carting company Tranquillo and a relative operated to overbill the City of Mount Vernon for the removal of waste from Mount Vernon city property. Tranquillo also was ordered to pay restitution of $1 million to the City of Mount Vernon.

White Plains, NY -- Lev L. Dassin, the Acting United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York, announced that Constance G. Post, former Commissioner of the Mount Vernon Department of Planning and Community Development as well as Executive Director of the Mount Vernon Department of Planning and Urban Renewal Agency, and Wayne Charles were found guilty today following a month-long jury trial in White Plains Federal Court on charges stemming from their diversion of more than $2 million in state and federal funds.

Yonkers Jury Acquitted Woman of All Charges in Early May
YONKERS, NY -- A Federal Civil Rights lawsuit was filed (Download Marquez_IrmaComplaintFedCourt.pdf ) this week against a Yonkers Police Officer who arrested a 44 year-old home health aid after having allegedly beaten her unconscious in 2007. The attack, captured on surveillance video, is claimed to have resulted in the hospitalization of Irma Marquez with an alleged fractured jaw, concussion, two black eyes and facial lacerations, as well as bruises and swelling over her neck, torso, and numerous other parts of her body. The video tape, which was reviewed by the Westchester County District Attorney Office’s, is said by Gary T. Certain, Esq., of Certain & Zilberg, PLLC, attorneys for Ms. Marquez, to “clearly demonstrates the officer lifting Ms. Marquez off her feet and driving her face first into the ceramic tile floor of the restaurant where the incident occurred.” Certain & Zilberg assert that “District Attorney Janet DiFiore proceeded with the unjust prosecution of the victim of this brutal attack rather than charge the perpetrating officer.”
