Concerto Time at the Yonkers Philharmonic

It's time to celebrate the accomplishments of the winners of the 34th Annual Concerto Competition sponsored by the Fine Arts Orchestral Society of Yonkers.  PLEASE NOTE THE CHANGE OF DAY – SATURDAY, and THE CHANGE IN TIME - 7:30 PM. 

The winners will perform with the Yonkers Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of James Sadewhite on Saturday, May 19, 2012 at Saunders Trade and Technical High School, 183 Palmer Road, Yonkers, NY, 10701, at 7:30 pm.  Robert Sherman, Master of Ceremonies. 

Sgt. Edward DiCaprio Fundraiser to be Held on Sunday, February 19th from Noon to 6 P.M.

YPD vs. YFD Toughman Competition Tickets on Sale Today

On Friday, October 28^th, 2011 at 7pm the Yonkers PBA will be hosting the seventh Yonkers Police vs. Yonkers Firefighters Toughman Competition. This event will feature approximately ten bouts of boxing pitting Yonkers Cops against Yonkers Firefighters. Each bout will consist of three, one minute rounds and will be held at the Yonkers Police Athletic League which is located at 127 North Broadway, Yonkers. The event will also feature a live DJ, ring girls and an electric atmosphere!

The NAACP Yonkers Branch Names “Making a Difference Award” Recipients

Yonkers, NY -- Reverend James Hassell, Pastor Sandra Comerie-Smith, Reverend Henry Rivera, and Father John Hamilton have been named  recipients of the “Making a Difference Award” and will be honored for their commitment to civil and human rights at the NAACP Freedom Fund Brunch on December 4, 2010 at the Riverview, One Warburton Avenue, Hastings-on-Hudson, New York, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

YONKERS, NY, August 23, 2010 -- Yonkers City Council President Chuck Lesnick has arranged for the Westchester County Board of Elections to make a public presentation of the new electronic voting machines in  theYonkers City Hall Council Chambers on Thursday, September 2, 2010,  from 6pm-9pm. The City Council President’s Office is working in conjunction with the Mayor’s Office to complete arrangements for live TV coverage of that demonstration on Channel 78.

Yonkers, NY -- Enjoy a two-and-a-half-hour Hudson River sail on the A. J. Meerwald, a beautifully restored turn-of-the-century schooner and New Jersey’s official tall ship, Thursday, July 15, at 6:00 – 8:30 PM. Tickets are $50 per person and support the work of Beczak Environmental Education Center. There are limited spots available:  register at BeczakNews@beczak.org / (914) 377-1900, ext. 13. Children are welcome with parents. Bring your own refreshments; beer and wine are permitted on board. Parking is at Beczak Environmental Education Center, 35 Alexander Street, Yonkers, NY.
