Congressman Eliot Engel on the Redevelopment of the Glenwood Power Station
YONKERS, NY -- January 16, 2013 -- U.S. Senator Chuck Schumer held a press conference at the Glenwood Power Station to announce plans to try to get federal funds for the development of the site. Congressman Eliot Engel, in Washington, D.C., where the House (but not the Senate) is in session, issued this supporting statement detailing his efforts, on a different track, to secure funding for the Glenwood Power Station development
Congressman Eliot Engel said, “I have been working with the Department of Housing and Urban Development on acquiring Community Development Block Grant money for the redevelopment of the Glenwood Power Plant.
“Transforming these derelict buildings into hotel, convention center, and community space will create jobs and economic development to transform the area. With this development we will have, after 40 years of abandonment, a transformative space majestically located on the beautiful Hudson River.”
The $200 million project is slated to open in 2016 and is estimated to create 1,800 construction jobs and 955 permanent ones.

More development in Yonkers that will not in any shape or form increase the taxbase. How much in taxbreaks will this
project get?
How much property taxes will it pay?
That's all yonkerites what to know, except for the usual yonkers trough feeders.
