THE HEZITORIAL: Politicking has Become an Exclusive Affair BY HEZI ARIS

Astorino-Campaign Trail 2009YONKERS, NY -- December 4, 2012 -- The Marathon Development Group (MDG), “a real estate development firm specializing in the development, acquisition, restructuring, and construction / renovation of affordable multifamily properties,” professing “Marathon's sole focus is affordable housing,” deludes itself into believing its Madison Avenue branding hype despite its insinuation into the political arena. The gesture of tying the Peekskill, New York, based Marathon Development Group (MDG) with Westchester County Chief of Staff and “go to guy” George Oros [to Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino], when the norm is to promote and engage in the fundraising effort the campaign effort itself, in this case it would be Friends of Rob Astorino, is instead a partnership among the developer, whose interest is “affordable housing” in Westchester County and beyond, and CEO Astorino’s “go to guy”, all this, vis-à-vis MDG’s support of Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino’s campaign effort toward a second term.

This IS the definition of conflict of interest. The stench is real; the in your face, who gives a damn attitude, dismissive of the standards long accepted in Westchester County’s political arena  have instead been tossed to the curb.

MDG’s projects consist of College Arms, a 164 family units development in Sleepy Hollow, NY; Village Green, a 136 family and senior units development in Glens Falls, NY; Lake Street, a 375 family and senior units development in Newburgh, NY; Tallman Tower, 83 family units development in Nyack, NY; Peekskill Plaza, a 168 senior units development in Peekskill, NY; Jackson Terrace, 181 family units development in Yonkers, NY; and Fairview Manhattan, 192 family units development in Greenburgh, NY, among many other in New York State, and beyond.

Management Development Group (MDG), a “Family and Friends Network” member in good standing in Yonkers, Westchester County, among other places.

The invitation is so blatant, that even those that would normally not attend such an “arm twisting” effort by MDG feel compelled to do so to stay in the running to maintain or become a member of the “Friends and Family Network”. It seems merit carries no weight in today's stae of economic development affairs.

Who next will throw a fundraiser for Mr Astorino?

Westchester County GOP Chairman Doug Colety must endorse this message and its subtle, thought in your face demand to participate or become part of the political diaspora removed from future participation under an Astorino Administration. Pity, he is expected to conduct himself better than that, if alas, only for show.

I thought that this is the YONKERS Tribune.

Last time I checked YO is part of Westchester and Astorino is our CE. Good job Hezi.

Of course Yonkers is part of Westchester, but our problems are all too real. We are being robbed by this current band of thieves led by our mayor. Spano has perfected hiding behind Sue Gerry and letting her take the blame while he bounces around with his fake smile and goes about cutting ribbons. The heat should be kept on Spano and what he has allowed to happen. A story like this is welcome news to him because it takes the attention away from him.

It's a clear invite for PAY to PLAY..

It smells bad

when public officials take monies
from people who do business with
the county is WRONG..

It does more than just smell bad....IT IS BAD!

Oros should not be on this invite as an employee of Astorino. What were they thinking?

Didn't this "group" shovel dollars into Amicones political slush fund? Did they ever get anything out of Yonkers?
Great story HEzi and to some idiots complaint above, westchester govt. is just a larger version of Yonkers.
Knew asstorino would be no different than SpaNO, just a different name. They are al the same that's why nobody votes....

Look at the budget. Mr Astorino has saved us money by cutting jobs. Great something has to give. But did he lead by example and cut his own which could promp the rank and file to help out. NO. Lead by example. You guys on top talk a great story of time for sacrifice but bump up administration salaries without hezitation.
Not to mention the political jobs need to go first to get the masses to help. But we know that aint gonna happen.

His fundraising events will get even more questionable as the few who would like to hold power ramp up efforts to brainwash us all.
I dont care what side of the fence you are on, just realize that this will be going on and use your own mind and not thier news12 30 second flashes to pick one of these people.
My god, that would render thier fund raisng efforts wasted money!
