Statement by Barry McGoey, President of Yonkers Firefighters Local 628 On The Death of Fire Fighter Antonio Rodriques
YONKERS, NY – August 2, 2012 – “On behalf of the executive board and members of the Yonkers Firefighters Local 628 I extend our deepest sympathies and condolences to the family of Firefighter Antonio Rodriques and members of Ladder 74 and Engine 304 on their loss. Firefighter Rodriques bravely served the people of Yonkers for 12 years. During that time he took part in many lifesaving rescues, receiving numerous commendations for his bravery and sacrifice. He will be sorely missed by his colleagues and the people of Yonkers.
“Even in death, Firefighter Rodriques has continued his dedication to save lives. His organs were donated to numerous recipients through the New York Donation Network. Being a firefighter is not a job, but rather a calling and Antonio Rodriques’ dedication exemplified that each and every day.”
