Yonkers Federation of Teachers Call for Expedited Negotiations
<<<Pat Puleo is the president of the YFT
YONKERS, NY – June 18, 2012 -- While both the Yonkers Public Schools (YPS) District and the Yonkers Federation of Teachers (YFT) may differ on the reasons as to why negotiations have stalled with respect to the development of a New Teacher Evaluation for the 2012-2013 school year and a successor agreement to the contract which expired last year, the YFT is calling for a knowledgeable, skilled, neutral party to serve in a “facilitator capacity”. Such an individual could assist in resolving issues as expeditiously as possible.
The savings of up to $10 million in much needed state aid is at risk if we do not come to an agreement by July 1, 2012. The Superintendent (Bernard Pierorazio) predicts over 200 lay-offs, if no resolution is reached by the new year.
The YFT is asking all elected officials to intervene to assist in moving the District to agree to these expedited negotiations.

New York State should take over education for all children in New York. It is a State mandate not a local responsibility. Then we can end the local union strong arm tactics. I am tired of my children bringing home letters telling me that if I care about their education I should call my Council member and tell them to give them more money!

No negotiations until you rehire the poor teachers who lost their jobs to greedy teachers who want to make more money.

Also, Pat has not been in the classroom for a very long time. She was an art teacher. That job does not compare to the 10 hours of dedication an elmentary teacher puts in her day.

Pat also does not live in Yonkers yet takes the money & heads north on the Sawmill River Pkwy.If you listen to her speak then your questions of why the kids do so poorly are answered.
