EXCLUSIVE: Yonkers Police Department to Soon Decide on New Design Scheme By HEZI ARIS
Picnic Tables Afford a New Venue for Secure Outdoor Eating at City Hall Park
YONKERS, NY -- Yonkers Tribune has received one of a potential of three design schemes for a fleet of newly purchased police vehicles from a source that should like to maintain anonymity. A decision with regard to the new design will soon be concluded. When it is, Yonkers City Hall is expected to reveal the design that will have earned the most support. We have only one of the designs. Send us photos of the others. Address the photos to WHYTeditor@gmail.com.
Fire trucks should be black and white also

The blue and whites look fine, why change them?

Hope the other two are better than this one. "City of" is redundant, emergency number should be included and white is more visible.

Lilk... Take your ball and go home...!!! You're just pissed that you couldn't pass te fire Dept test even with your minority points... If you think a volunteer Dept. Can do a better job, just ask that poor family in Carmel. A half hour response time. Good job!!! You're obviously one of those hacks who thinks fire is cool, and you'll run in and save the day. Congratulations... You've clearly never been in a fire. But that's okay cuz you're delusions of grandeur will be short lived when your ears are burning off your head and you're crying like a little bitch!!! Good luck Asshole...

Wow, the fire dept used to be professionals! Little bitch, asshole, I hope to God you are Not a FF, because you bring shame to a good dept!

Fire Department Administration (The New Fire Commissioner, specifically) is really a first class person, professional, who really cares for our city. I believe that a good portion of the actual firefighters who work for YFD are also professional (both on and off the job). Unfortunately, you have a hand full of JERKS who work for the YFD (Wake Up People of Yonkers, for example), who just don't get it and if ever found who that person was, should be FIRED from the YFD immediately, for conduct unbecoming a Yonkers Firefighter. These people act just like that IDIOT Union Leader of the Yonkers Sanitation Department, who was video taped at a City Hall Meeting several years back, who was cursing and ridiculing that women reporter, who was filming a story on the city's financial situation and the Sanitation Cut Backs at that time. These are the type of MORONS who should be panhandling for money down in the bowery rather than driving BMW's and being "Tony Soprano Wannabees"

Sure, because it isn't insulting to my professionalism or lack there of, to suggest that a volunteer Dept is on it's way... Or that the city would be better off with one. Why don't you make another provocative comment and then turn around and make me out to be the bad guy. Or perhaps you should just shut the &@$" up...

I suppose I should appologize for being offended by what people say on this forum. This is unfortunately a place for people to make provocative statements and stir up people's emotions. Then sit back and laugh about it when people react. Obviously I meant no disrespect to any volunteer or the department that they work for, but it isn't what Yonkers needs. A volunteer Dept just wouldn't get it done here...

This isn't the time to get these cars - we have a budget crisis, and we just got back all the other cars from city employees as their perk. If the police cars MUST be replaced NOW, this must be proven, and only then should we allow such an expense.
That being said, the black and white police car design is "classic" and this one id done well. I saw it on the street already, and was surprised. The white ones are VERY nice also, looking very clean. This new design is meant to look tough, it seems.

If the newspaper actually did a investigation on how many take home cars still exist, the piblic would cry with anger. They should include unmarked police vehicles, fire vehicles, and DPW vehicles.

So the YFD is facing layoffs and this Mayor is going to go out and buy a new fleet of Police Cars and appears to have struck a deal with the YPD for them to avoid layoffs.
Firefighters got played by Little Mikey. Some loyalty for all their support.

Si what deal did the YPD make? I doubt any, as they will probably be included in the layoffs.

I have been a fire fighter in this city for a litle over 10 years now and I am bothered by a lot of the comments on here about us.
Yes we have a lot of firemen but it's what the city allowed us to have. Yes we work only 2 days a month but so what we all need to have second jobs also.
Yes we have a ton of pornography in the fire houses and we drink almost everyday in the fire houses, so what... it's our right, we work hard.
So what we have 2 full fleets of trucks that we will never use... the city gave it and we took it.
So in closing I would like all the whiney tax payers to give us a break and just know that it costs a lot for a department like ours and no i don't live in yonkers.... or new york state for that matter.
