CATHERINE O’LEAR GRONOWSKI passed away on May 9, 2012 , at home, with her loving daughter by her side. Catherine was the last surviving child born to Stephen and Glafira Frances (Merena) O’Lear and was predeceased by eleven brothers and sisters. Catherine “Kay” was also predeceased by her beloved husband, Adolph “Ski” Gronowski. She is survived by her daughter, Joan Gronowski, grandson, Daniel (Kirsten) Santore, and great-grandson, Henry Santore, of Silver Spring, MD

Catherine was surrounded by her loving hospice caregivers and good friends at the end of her life, who made her last months as comfortable as possible, and who made it possible for her to live to see her 100th Birthday on April 24th. She was an avid reader until the last months of her life, and was forever clipping out newspaper articles and coupons to send to friends and family.

“Catherine was one of the kindest and loving of God’s creations, a genteel lady, who treated all whose lives she touched, with utmost respect.”

Visitation will be held at Yonkers Funeral Service (107 YONKERS AVE.) on Friday, May 11th, from 2-4PM and 7-9PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, May 12, 2012 at St. Mary’s Church (S. B’way) at 9:30AM. Interment will follow at Oakland Cemetery.

Rest in Peace. I am sure you must have been a wonderful lady as you raised your daughter to be honest and hard working. Joan, sorry for your loss and thank you for being the only one worth a damn that served on the City Council.

Special prayers for Joan, a most devoted daughter, and for her Mom who one easily infers is close to God in her eternal rest. Peace. RIP
