Yonkers Cops Take a Haircut to Cure Cancer

StBaldricks
On Saturday, February 25, 2012, 12 pm, at JC Fogarty’s Restaurant in Bronxville, NY the Yonkers PBA will be hosting a fundraiser for the St. Baldrick’s Foundation. St. Baldrick’s is a volunteer-driven charity committed to funding the most promising research to find cures for childhood cancers and give survivors long and healthy lives.

To date 61 volunteers, comprised mostly of Yonkers Police Officers, have joined our team and will have their heads shaved on Feb. 26. St. Baldrick’s shavees shave their head in solidarity with kids fighting cancer while raising money from friends and family. Our fundraising efforts will raise much-needed research support and our bald heads will be a display of solidarity with kids who have cancer, most of whom don't get to choose how to style their hair today.

At the 2011 St. Baldrick’s Fundraiser the Yonkers PBA was able to raise more than $63,000. We are hoping to surpass that amount this year!

This year our honoree is 2 year old Aksel Jarosz who is courageously battling Pre-B Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. Aksel is the son of two members of the Mount Vernon Police Department family.

So far this year, the Yonkers PBA has raised more than $35,000 through our fundraising efforts. To volunteer or to donate to this great cause, please visit the following web site.
