Senator Andrea Stewart-Cousins: Senate Approves Shared Services Legislation

ASC
Measure Will Assist Municipalities with Lowering Costs to Taxpayers

ALBANY, NY – JANUARY 31, 2012 -- State Senator Andrea Stewart-Cousins (D/I/WF – 35th District) announced that the Senate unanimously approved Senate bill 5525-B, which will allow localities to contract for goods and services with the State, federal government, and other municipalities. The bill is designed to lower costs and in turn, save tax dollars.

“As a County Legislator, State Senator and Ranking Minority member of the Senate Local Government Committee, reducing government spending and lowering taxes has always been a priority.  This bill gives localities and districts the tools they need to lower their expenses by providing more purchasing options,” stated Senator Stewart-Cousins.

Senate bill 5525-B amends the General Municipal Law to authorize any officer, agency, or board of a county, locality, or any district to make purchases of materials, equipment and supplies or to contract for services through the use of contracts let by the United States, agency thereof, any state or any other county or political subdivision.

Senator Andrea Stewart-Cousins concluded, “This bill’s passage continues to emphasize the need to support measures such as this that reduces government spending and saves taxpayers money.”

Scarf, this is bad English. Just because you were members of these organizations does not mean that reducing reducing spending and taxes was a priority of yours. You have to state it.

I suppose you were too busy adjusting your scarf to be bothered.
