GREENBURGH, NY and WHITE PLAINS, NY -- Felled tree branches, heavy rains causing leaves to stick to one another amidst enormous mounds of debris were the catalysts that demanded Greenburgh Town Supervisor Paul Feiner (pictured) cancel the recycling that would normally have taken place Thursday, December 1, 2011. Supervisor Feiner believed it more prudent to assign sanitation crews to pick up leaves and other debris alongside the highway crews toiling over that same task. Supervisor Feiner posted an announcement to that affect on the Town of Greenburgh website and The Daily Greenburgh, who, having been advised of that action, dutifully posted a similar announcement.

She was plucked out of obscurity years ago by Yonkers economic guru Edward Sheeran. It was Ed’s wife who suggested she might be a loyal worker. She did as she was told. She would soon take a fancy to Deputy Mayor Phil Amicone when she was instructed to engage in a City Hall-wide effort to elect Phil Amicone to the office of mayor. And she did, particularly in earning the support of her church’s fellow congregants. Her effort would afford Phil Amicone the margin of victory he hadn’t even considered getting. With gratitude, Phil Amicone was known to have promised her the plumb position of Chief of Staff. The promise was not consummated until about two years later. Kathy Spring Spencer would hold onto her position of Chief of Staff beyond her service to her husband, the then Mayor John Spencer. In a sense, Kathy Spring Spencer was a bridge between the Spencer administration, under which Phil Amicone served as deputy mayor, and then to Phil Amicone as mayor to the consternation of the Chief of Staff in waiting. In time, the simmering disdain for Mayor Amicone’s inability to deliver on his promise to Lisa Mrijaj brought the two to verbal blows. Kathy Spring Spencer was dismissed; Lisa Mrijaj would accede to Chief of Staff. Her qualifications then and even now remained non –existent, at best, they should be designated as nil.

KINGSTON, NY -- The MF Global bankruptcy (eighth largest in U.S. history) has all but destroyed confidence in the options and commodity markets. It is an event with enormous implications across the world’s economic spectrum.
However intricate the story may seem, in terms of rules, regulations, and legalities, there is one chief element that is crystal clear. But that one element – the role played by CME Group (Chicago Mercantile Exchange) in the debacle – has been all but ignored by the media. Instead, most of their attention has been focused on an estimated $1.2 billion of missing money, and allegations that MF raided segregated customer accounts, in violation of industry rules, to cover the bad, high-risk bets made by CEO Jon Corzine.

WHITE PLAINS, NY -- Democratic members of the Westchester County Board of Legislators (WCBoL) were astonished to find today that County Executive Astorino had authorized payment of over $93 million of pension costs that were not included in the 2011 Westchester County Budget. The County Charter clearly designates a protocol that transfers of appropriated funds to address excess spending must be first approved by the Westchester County Board of Legislators. Despite legal conduct being clearly delineated Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino chose to disregard statute.

Thanksgiving is a wonderful holiday. Its very name, “Thanks Giving,” a day to give thanks, makes it unique. For 364 days a year, we take for granted how lucky we are to live in this special land we call America, a country of amazing energy and variety. When Thanksgiving arrives – which we usually celebrate as a five-day holiday weekend, taking off the day before and three days following - we generally spend it with family and friends.

Yonkers' Benedict Arnold Revealed
It was a well-orchestrated ambush of the Yonkers City Council. A week after they conducted an Executive Session over the request of them by Yonkers Mayor Phil Amicone to indemnify him of his personal responsibility in a First Amendment lawsuit which he lost before Federal Judge Cathy Seibel and a jury of his peers, the Yonkers City Council was ready to take a vote over whether they should indemnify Yonkers Mayor Phil Amicone of his personal liability of $393,388.00 incurred when it was ascertained that it was he who directed Yonkers Police Officers and DPW personnel to take the blue metal newspaper dispensers owned by The Westchester Guardian from the authorized City of Yonkers placements they were situated. The property owned by The Westchester Guardian, but removed as directed by Mayor Amicone, caused the protection afforded Mayor Amicone to be pierced. Mayor Amicone’s directive was an act that was dismissive of the United States Constitution’s First Amendment guaranteeing the freedom of the press. By directing DPW and YPD personnel to remove the blue metal dispensers from their locations, Judge Cathy Seibel ruled that it was Phil Amicone who is personally liable to satisfy the debt demanded of him by the court, and not the responsibility of the City of Yonkers. Phil Amicone would not hear of it. The man voted into office, expected to be benevolent to the city in which he resides for all of his years except the first two, would turn on Yonkers and threaten its very viability were he not granted indemnification by the Yonkers City Council.

The fear of continuing litigation if Mayor Amicone’s request of the Yonkers City Council that he not be indemnified from a $393,338.00 personal debt he incurred by violating the U.S. Constitution’s First Amendment rights of The Westchester Guardian is revealed to be the fear that forced the vote as it did. The fear came from an unexpected place. It came from threats by Mayor Amicone's surrogates of his encumbering the legal system with his lie and attempt for continuing deceit of Yonkersites.
