Ed Koch Commentary: Durban I, II and III – Nothing More Than Jew Hatred Rivaling Nazi Germany By ED KOCH

KOCH_Ed The Durban III Conference is scheduled to be held in New York City on September 21.  The two prior Durban conferences—Durban I held in 2001 in Durban, South Africa and Durban II held in 2009 in Geneva, Switzerland—were supposedly called into session to address racism, racial discrimination, xenophobia and related intolerance.  It instantly became clear that the conferences had been hijacked by  Muslim nations for the purpose of trashing Israel and directing hate at Jews everywhere.  The attacks upon Israel and Jews rivaled the worst manifestations of anti-Semitism seen anyplace since Hitler’s Nazi Germany engaged in their campaign to dehumanize Jews leading to the Final Solution and the murder of 6 million Jews.  The false charges against Israel and worldwide Jewry at Durban I and II have undoubtedly caused safety problems for the Jewish citizens of many nations, particularly in the underdeveloped countries of the world seeking the favor of the oil rich Arab countries.

Durban III undoubtedly will have the same kind of  hate-filled rhetoric directed at both Israel and Jews everywhere.  Of that I have no doubt.  Today, across the world, anti-Semitism is rising in countries such as Great Britain, France and Russia and increasing in Scandinavia and elsewhere in the European Union as well.  Many of these countries seeking lucrative oil contracts with the Arab countries and fearful of the outcomes of the uprisings that have taken place in Egypt, Libya, Tunisia and Yemen, but seeking to be seen as supporting those uprisings, are willing to denounce Israel, hoping to avoid confrontation in their own countries with the rising Muslim populations there.

Many of those European countries undoubtedly believe that throwing Israel under the bus is a small price to pay for an accommodation with the Islamic world.  The Muslim Arab countries, having failed on five occasions to defeat Israel on the battlefield, are now seeking to win a diplomatic victory at the U.N. which will deprive Israel of secure and defensible borders, end negotiations between the parties and impose a Munich-like settlement on Israel.  In addition, through their false accusations and hatred of Jews worthy of Hitler, they will once again at the so-called Durban III Conference on September 21 engage in an exercise of Jew hatred.

The conference will not succeed because the United States, at the direction of President Obama, will not participate in the proposed auto-da-fe.  It will not succeed because countries of conscience such as Canada will not participate, its Immigration Minister Jason Kenney having said, “The original Durban Conference, and its declaration, as well as the non-governmental activities associated with it, proved to be a dangerous platform for racism, including anti-Semitism…Canada is clearly committed to the fight against racism, but the Durban process commemorates an agenda that actually promotes racism rather than combats it…Canada will not participate in this charade.”

United States representative John Sammis stated to the UN committee that the event “risks undermining the relationship we have worked hard to strengthen over the past few years between the United States and the U.N.”

Senator Kirsten Gilibrand (D-NY) said, “We all witnessed how extreme anti-Semitic and anti-American voices took over Durban I and Durban II, and we should expect the same thing to happen with Durban III... I appreciate the Obama Administration’s strong statement opposing yesterday’s resolution, and urge it to again withdraw from the event and encourage other nations to do the same.”

On June 1, the Obama administration confirmed that the U.S. would boycott the conference.  Joseph MacManus, acting U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for Legislative Affairs, stated that the Durban process “included ugly displays of intolerance and anti-Semitism.”

The Italian Vice President of the Committee of Foreign Affairs, Fiamma Nirenstein, who covered the original Durban conference as a journalist wrote, “The UN never ceases to amaze. Just when we thought we had become immune to all the poisonous concoctions that get dished out, once again, ten years down the road, we are being offered a remake of “Durban 1”, the UN conference against racism which — to most people’s horror — was transformed into a racist conference against Israel and America.”

Jews who came to the land now known as Israel and Palestine with the sojourn of their Patriarch and founder, Abraham, have lived there for over 3,000 years.  They were carried off into slavery after war with Babylonia in 587 BCE.  Then, the Persian King Cyrus permitted them to return to Jerusalem in 538 BCE.  Many were once again carried off into slavery by the Romans in 70 CE, but some Jews always remained in the land.  They began their return in large numbers at the urgings of Theodore Herzl culminating in the declaration of statehood by Ben Gurion who became its first prime minister.

Today, there are living in Israel 5.8 million Jews and 1.6 million Arabs all full citizens of that democratic state.  I have no doubt whether one believes in God or does not, that the people of Israel and the 13 million Jews who live in this world making up one-fifth of one percent of the world’s population will survive this latest attack upon them by their enemies.

Sorry Ed i can't even finish reading this diatribe
The Palestinians deserve Statehood and recognition by the USA and the UN
The Idea that Israel would put their own interests before those of the world is telling indeed
its as simple as that
anything Israel says is just more of the same status qou....more belligerence as settlements get built...more of the same carp while Israel holds people in a sort of servitude.
this Israel i have no interest in.
Anti Semitic?.......hahaha......no guess again

its time for the American Jewish Community to stop
accusing anyone who has a legitimate difference with
Israel an anti'semite..sure there is still anti semitism in the world and some of it is on display
at the UN 24/7 but that doesn't mean that the state
of Israel is doing the right thing..the settlements
are a function of the hard right orthodox parties
who believe that judea and samaria belong to the jews
as per their interpretation of the old testament..
many evangelicals in the country support Israel not
because they are enamored with jews per se but because
they too contrue the bible as mandating that the
mesiah will return only when all the jews return to
Israel and then etiher convert to christianity or
suffer the consequences..this is all nonsesne..when
the UN created Israel out of whole cloth in 1947 it
also created a palestinian entity...unfortunately because the arabs have never been interested in anything other than pushing Israel back into the sea
peace has been elusive...However if you told the state
of Israel back in 1967 that it could live in peace
behind safe and secure borders it would have jumped
at the opportunity..Now Netanyahu is more interested
in holding on to the prime ministership than in solving
the problem...and he needs avigdor lieberman and the
right wing parties to stay in power and therefore he
will not make a deal...most Israel's want a deal and
most American Jews do as well...AIPAC does not represent anything but the hard right...Israel cannot
justify taking parts of Palestine ..there already was
a draft agreement between Abbas and the last prime
minister that would have given up most of the settlements and shared Jerusalem..that is the only
way this problem will be solved and rather than
carping about anti semitism maybe Ed Kock in his
declining years should see the world through a different prism

Netanyahu is in power because the leftists in Israel did nothing about the rocket barrage coming from Gaza into Israel.Israel is in a precarius time with Obama and world communists allied with Islamic radicals in Turkey, Egypt,Yemen and in Jordan, whose objective is no Jewish state. Before you criticise Ed Koch for his declining years check out your spelling of his name. The only good Democrat is a defeated Democrat.

http://www.cnn.com/2011/09/21/opinion/avlon-perry-israel-obama/index.html?hpt=po_t2

the obama policy toward israel is exactly the
same a bush and clinton..no difference at all..
the US has always been against settlement expansion
the notion that Obama is breaking new ground is
nonsense...

No Solutions
The problem here isn’t hypocrisy, which abounds at all points on the political spectrum. It’s that Republicans have abandoned market-based solutions in favor of no solutions at all. They’ve traded in their traditional small-government philosophy for anti-government rage, generally doing their level best to look like yahoos whenever cameras are near.

In reality, there are very few Joe the Plumbers among the largely wealthy, educated and professionally successful members of the House and Senate Republican caucuses. Yet these politicians are so afraid of their noisy anti-government, anti- intellectual wing that they fear expressing support for even the most limited government -- the kind that can fix a highway or keep a bridge from falling down (forget about building Hoover Dam or creating a national park).

In their current frame of mind, House Republicans and their brethren in the Senate may ultimately be legislating against themselves. Whose interests are served when they try to roll back food safety regulations, increasing the likelihood that citizens will be sickened by salmonella and that U.S. food companies will be harmed by the inevitable fallout? If Republicans are so determined to be against something, maybe they ought to drop the war on light bulbs and pick a fight with E. coli.

THERE IS A DIFFERENCE BETWEEN CONSERVATISM AND
REACTIONARY THINKING..WHAT YOU ARE SEEING FROM
BACHMANN AND PERRY IS NOT CONSERVATISM...IT IS
APPEALING TO THOSE WHO WANT TO GO BACK IN TIME
TO AN ERA WHEN GOVERNMENT DID NOTHING....THEY
CAN'T AND WON'T WIN IF NOMINATED

Oboma is a friend to Israel like Edelman is a friend of Republicans.Obama and his Marxist inner circle have launched class warfare in America with anarchists blocking the sidewalks in the lower Manhattan financial district.Next up, the molotov cocktails and killing police officers.Obamas job plan is $3 of tax increases for $1 in savings the opposite of the Simpson-Bowles Commission he formed. His tax the rich is in reality a tax on those making $200,000 a year during the Great Recession. The only good Democrat is a defeated Democrat.

i agree that obama doesn't have a clue on economics
but neither do perry or bachmann...its either romney
or it will be obama

Jack you need a lesson in current events
the people on Wall Street are not anarchists
basically it comes down to the power that wall street and the banks have gained by the repeal of the Glass-Steagall Act in 1999
and signed into law by that idiot President Clinton

https://occupywallst.org/

The demonstrators on Wall Street are communist Democratic Party Obama supporters and Obama fueled the class war with his rehetoric of tax the rich. The reality of the Obama Jobs Bill its all political propaganda that won't get passed and won't even be supported by the NY democrats in Congress. The only good Democrat is a defeated Democrat.

Rhetoric or just plain old bullshit for the leftist loonies. The only good Democrat is a defeated Democrat.

wrong again...they are not supporting dems or repubs.
thank goodness.
in fact its not a political event at all.
nor are they anti-capitalism
another fact: mainstream media is deliberately not reporting this or they are reporting it incorrectly.

I'll bet there are 10,000 people there by the end of the weekend supporting a revolution while you sit behind a computer screen spewing 1950's crap

Obama is a communist supported by communists his whole political life and he is the lightning rod for anarchy and revolution. Those police officers on the scene know who the demonstrators are and are in full riot gear. The only good Democrat is a defeated Democrat.

AND WRONG AGAIN
you sound like that asshole Fleming

Jack is right again, the Democrats in Congress voted with the Republicans in voting down the Obama leftist propaganda bill.Increasing taxes during hard time increases unemployment. The only good Democrat is a defeated Democrat.

http://www.nypost.com/p/news/opinion/editorials/presidential_prevarication_32ZrcC7SQqukPJPiKVthGM And I might add increasing tax rates on municipal bond buyers will result in localities having to pay higher interest rates to municipal bond purchasers taking more money away from the operations budgets.

why should municipal bond holders avoid taxes..
its simply another investment vehicle and one usually
used by high net wealth individuals to avoid income
taxes...eg ross perot had virtually all his billions
in municipal bonds..its just another government subsidy
but clearly jack you approve of subsidies for your
crowd..just not for anyone else

Municipal bond buyers will still buy municipal debt but will demand higher interest from the issuers costing taxpayers more money. What school awarded you a degree in economics? You should sue them. The only good Democrat is a defeated Democrat.

if you look at the new tax proposal you will see
that high income investors will be limited in that
they will not be able to pay less than 28% of their
taxable income ..they will not buy municipal bonds
unless they are insured..they will buy high yielding
blue chip stocks...all we need is for one municipality
to declare it can't pay its interest and the muncipal
bond market will collapse like everything else
