The General Policy Statement of My Candidacy by CARLO CALVI

Calvi_Carlo-Standing withstriped white shirt and paisley tie I will identify & eliminate the “systemic waste” in the City and Education budgets by ascertaining non payroll expenditures related to policies, procedures and programs  that are wasteful, inefficient duplicative or below standard. I will implement better, modern and technologically appropriate methods to streamline operations.

By doing so, real estate taxes can and will be reduced within four years and I affirm that I will not seek a second term if I fail.

I will improve the educational quality of our schools, fight crime aggressively and provide more courteous, efficient delivery of services.

Evan Inlaw Mayoral Candidate in Yonkers; Wife, Tamika Inlaw, Endorses Chuck Lesnick for Mayor By HEZI ARIS

Inlaw_Evan It’s confusing, but therein lies the fun of Yonkers favorite blood sport – politics.  Evan Inlaw, Esq., is a candidate for Mayor of the City of Yonkers. Who knew? He is the designee of the Working Family Party. Evan inlaw is married to Tamika Inlaw, who, until but a few days ago presided over the Yonkers Chapter of the NAACP as its president. She advised she had to step down in order to afford Chuck Lesnick her endorsement for Mayor of Yonkers in the upcoming Democrat Primary of September 13, 2011. Mr Lesnick, is the president of the Yonkers City Council and is also engaged in a three way Democrat Primary challenge for the Democrat Party’s designation. Mr. Lesnick goes up against Bob Flower, and the Democrat Convention designee and present New York State Assemblyman Mike Spano.

Yonkers_City_Hall The city of Yonkers is currently under a FLOOD WARNING issued by the National Weather Service. Hurricane and Tropical Storm Warnings have expired. 

Danger of high winds, falling trees and limbs, power outages and especially flooding persist. Residents are urged to take caution.

Governor Cuomo Announces Closure of the Tappan Zee Bridge

 

Road Sign-DoNotEnter-Closed-Detour Governor Andrew Cuomo today announced that the Tappan Zee Bridge is closed due to flooding on the New York State Thruway. The Thruway northbound between Exits 8 (Tarrytown) and 17 (Harriman) and southbound between Exits 17 (Newburgh) and 12 (West Nyack) continue to be closed due to flooding. 

The Hudson River bridges north of the Tappan Zee Bridge remain open with moderate sustained winds. This includes the Bear Mountain Bridge, Newburgh-Beacon Bridge, Mid-Hudson Bridge, Kingston-Rhinecliff Bridge, and the Rip Van Winkle Bridge.

Habitat of Westchester Will Keep Its Headquarter Open During the Storm

Hurricane Irene Information for Yonkers

UPDATE 3 (SUN - 9:00 AM): The Office of Emergency Management is consolidating Yonkers' two storm shelters into one location in order to conserve volunteer resources and because demand is not that great. The Lincoln High School storm shelter is now closed (effective immediately) and residents there have been transferred to the PAL storm shelter via YFD bus. Residents who need shelter should go to the PAL shelter. If you need a ride call 914-377-8010. Yonkers total storm shelter population is presently 42 people. 

Con Edison has a manger stationed at the Yonkers Emergency Operations Center working with city departments to prioritize power outages and bring customers back online. Scattered outages continue to be reported. Overnight, customer outages peaked at 1,766. Most of those customers have been restored. Presently there are 353 customer outages in Yonkers citywide. More outages are expected with additional down wires.

Governor Cuomo Announces Deployment of Additional National Guard Troops

Cuomo, Andrew Governor Will Double Number of Troops Deployed

Governor Andrew M. Cuomo today announced that he has deployed an additional 1,000 New York National Guard troops to augment the state's Hurricane Irene response efforts, bringing the total number of New York National Guard members on state active duty to 1,900.

"It is important to take every precaution as we prepare for the impact of Hurricane Irene," Governor Cuomo said. "I have deployed additional members of the New York National Guard to make sure the evacuation process runs smoothly and to help with the emergency response efforts."
