The Yonkers Connection
On November 2, 1940, the Saturday before Election Day, Robert H. Jackson, the Attorney General of the United States, delivered the principal speech at a political meeting outside of New York City. That year featured a presidential election that Jackson and many believed would be close and, for Democrats, possibly a defeat: President Franklin D. Roosevelt, seeking an unprecedented third term, was on the ballot against Republican Party nominee Wendell Willkie. Many races for the United States Senate and the United States House of Representatives, where the Democrats held majorities, also were tight contests.

Yonkers City Council to Pay Mayor Amicone’s Failed $8 Million First Amendment Rights
Mayor Phil Amicone learned a very expensive lesson in Constitutional law when he lost a lawsuit for wrongfully seizing news racks and copies of The Westchester Guardian. At Mayor Amicone’s behest and charge, The Yonkers Police Department was employed to issue summonses against The Westchester Guardian employees attempting to hand out the paper about Yonkers City Hall. DPW Commissioner John Liszewski testified he was specifically demanded to take away two such news racks and dutifully complied. Mayor Amicone went up against the U.S. Consitution and lost in the Federal courtroom of the Hon. Cathy Seibel. He is now personally saddled by an $8 million jury awarded judgment owed to 16 people employed by publisher Sam Zherka. Initially jubilant over the win, Yonkersites are now worried they will have to pay the $8 million judgment.

City of Yonkers
By Fax: 914-377-6048
Dear Mayor Amicone,
My name is Bronson Trevor, Jr. and I am writing on behalf of the entire Trevor family.
As you know, the Trevor family—and the Colgate family that had close business ties to the Trevor family— has extensive history in and with the City of Yonkers. Over the course of a century, Yonkers gained considerable benefit from the charitable acts of the Trevor and Colgate families. It is because of this that I bring to your attention a serious matter.

Yonkers, NY, October24, 2010 -- On 10/17/10 at approximately 3:17 p.m., 3rd Precinct Police Officers Paul Api and Myron Kosiv were on patrol when they observed a 2012 Mazda occupied by four people pass a steady red light at the intersection of South Broadway and Valentine Lane. The driver of the vehicle (later identified as Sidonia Findley) was also not wearing her seat belt. The officers conducted a traffic stop on the suspect vehicle. Before exiting their vehicle, the officers ran the license plate of the stopped vehicle and it was determined that the owner of the vehicle had an active warrant out of Rome, New York. Upon approaching the vehicle, the officers observed occupants inside of the vehicle making furtive movements and reaching toward the floor of the vehicle. The officers requested additional units to respond and the occupants of the vehicle were removed from the vehicle after additional officers arrived at the scene. One of the occupants (later identified as Dwayne A. Pennant) had an active narcotics warrant out of Hudson City, New York. An officer recovered three ounces of cocaine (approximate street value of $6,000.00) from inside of the vehicle. All four occupants of the vehicle were taken into custody and subsequently taken to the City Jail. The vehicle was impounded at the scene.

Ed Koch Commentary The Coming Political Tsunami By Edward I. Koch
For the last six months in various public forums, I have said that Republicans will take both the House and Senate. Most political observers, citing statistics from various states, continue to say that, while it appears certain that the House will go Republican, there are too few Senate seats in play for a Republican takeover. Further, many pundits state that Democrats will preserve their control of the Senate because the Republican Party has undermined itself by fielding whacko and semi-whacko candidates from the “Tea Party” wing or otherwise offering inferior candidates, e.g., Christine O’Donnell in Delaware, Rand Paul in Kentucky, Sharron Angle in Nevada, Linda McMahon in Connecticut and Carly Fiorina in California.
