June 1, 2010, Yonkers, NY -- On 05-30-10 at approximately 12:18 a.m., numerous units responded to the area of 143 Willow Street on a report of shots fired. Responding officers located spent shell casings and received further reports of an injured male in the area Nepperhan and Waverly Street. Officers responded to that location and observed a male (later identified as John Perez) with a head injury. He initially identified himself to the officers as a United States Air Marshal. The suspect was found to be in possession of a 9mm handgun, ammunition, a U.S. Air Marshal shield, and a tactical police jacket with concealed police patches. He related that he was involved in an altercation with another male on Willow Street and he received an injury to his head. The suspect was taken into custody and transported to a local hospital where he was treated for a laceration to his head. Investigation revealed that the suspect was not a U.S. Air Marshal. The suspect was involved in an altercation with another male on Willow Street over a female. The suspect subsequently fired rounds at a group of people in the area. No gunshot victim(s) have been located at this time. The suspect was booked for Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd degree, Reckless Endangerment 1st degree, and Criminal Impersonation 1st degree. He was arraigned in Yonkers Criminal Court on 06-01-10.
