Yonkers Police Department Blotter - May 14, 2010 BY DET. SGT. PATRICK McCORMACK

YPD_patch  May 14, 2010, Yonkers, NY -- On 05/12/10 at approximately 9:00 p.m., 2nd Precinct Police Officers Richard Rubin and John Viviano responded to Macy’s Department store in the Cross County Shopping Center on a report of a larceny.  Macy’s security personnel related that a male (later identified as Lance Nelson) was observed carrying an empty book bag and removing several pieces of clothing from various departments throughout the store.  The suspect used pliers to remove the theft prevention devices and he attempted to leave the store without paying for the items (approximate value of $621.50).  Two employees attempted to stop the suspect, at which time the suspect became violent and he physically resisted attempts to be detained.  The 2nd Precinct officers placed the suspect into custody upon their arrival, and he was subsequently transported to the City Jail.  The two store employees received minor injuries. 

Lance Nelson, a 17 year old black male who reports residing at 130 Clairemont Avenue in Mt. Vernon, was booked for Robbery 3rd, Possession of Burglary Tools, and Criminal Mischief.

On 05/13/10 at approximately 12:23 p.m., members of the 3rd Precinct responded to St. Joseph’s Hospital on a report of a male who was stabbed.  A 17 year old male area resident related while walking northbound on South Broadway at Highland Avenue, he was approached from behind by a black male and the victim was stabbed in the back with a knife.  According to the victim, when he turned around, the suspect fled southbound on South Broadway.  The suspect responded to the hospital where he was treated for a small wound to his back and he received one (1) suture to close the wound.  Officers canvassed the area for the suspect but he was not located.  The suspect was further described as 5’8” tall, 160 pounds, and wearing a tan hooded sweatshirt with blue jeans.

On 05/14/10 at approximately 2:08 a.m., 3rd Precinct officers on patrol were approached by a 37 year old male city resident who related that he and his friend, a 25 year old male city resident, were robbed 15 minutes in the past at Linden Street and Park Hill Avenue.  The victims related that they were grabbed by two black male suspects and pushed against a wall.  One of the suspects was holding what was believed to be a handgun and the suspects were advised that their pockets would be checked.  Two wallets, a cell phone, credit cards, and approximately $350.00 were removed from the victims.  The suspects were then observed entering a four door black vehicle and the suspects fled east on Park Hill Avenue.  Responding officers canvassed the area for the suspects but they were not located.  Both suspects were described as 6’0” tall, one was wearing a black shirt with blue jeans and the other wearing a white shirt with blue jeans.
