Yonkers, NY --March 11, 2010 -- On 03-10-10 at approximately 9:08 p.m., 3rd Precinct Police Officers Robert McLaughlin and Neil Vera were on routine patrol when they observed a vehicle commit a traffic violation in the area of Rumsey Road and Spruce Street. The officers pulled over the 2007 Toyota Camry in the area of the Cross County Parkway and upon approach of the vehicle observed what appeared to be the handle of a shotgun inside of the vehicle. The officers recovered a loaded 12 gauge Mossberg shotgun. The driver of the vehicle (later identified as Jonathan Santiago) was determined to have a suspended New York State Driver’s license. A loaded .40 caliber handgun was then located in the trunk of the vehicle. A NYSPIN check of the two weapons revealed that the shotgun had been stolen out of Yonkers on 03-09-10 and the handgun was reported stolen out of North Carolina on 02-08-02. Two suspects were placed under arrest at the scene and transported to the City Jail.
Mario S. Guzman, an 18 year old male who resides at 52 Lefferts Road, was booked for two counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd degree and two counts of Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 4th degree. He will be arraigned in Yonkers Criminal Court on 03-11-10.
Jonathan Santiago, a 23 year old male who resides at 3006 Decatur Place in the Bronx, was booked for Aggravated Unlicensed Operation and given an appearance ticket for Yonkers Criminal Court on 3-30-10.

On 03-10-10 at approximately 5:41 p.m., Street Crime Unit Police Officers Richard DeVito and Christopher Hutter were on patrol in plain clothes and observed a suspicious male in the area of 246 Valentine Lane. The suspect was observed to be in possession of a clear plastic bag containing alleged marijuana. The officers approached the male and after investigation he was placed into custody after being found in possession of approximately ½ pound of Marijuana broken down into numerous bags. The Marijuana as it was packaged has an approximate street value of $1,600.00. The suspect was transported to the City Jail and lodged therein.
Daniel Ramirez, a 30 year old male who resides at 33 Lincoln Avenue, was booked for Criminal Possession of Marijuana 3rd degree and he will be arraigned in Yonkers Criminal Court on 03-11-10.

On 03-11-10 at approximately 6:29 a.m., the Yonkers Police Department Communications Division received a report of a body floating in the Hudson River in the area of 709 Warburton Avenue. Units immediately began to canvass the shoreline with the assistance of the New York City Police Department Aviation Unit and Harbor Unit. The body of a male was located in the water approximately 300 yards south of where it was reported. The New York State Police responded to the scene and an investigation is underway to determine the identity of the body. No further information will be released at this time.
