If I was in charge, I would say, “Mr Mayor, you have failed and now you’re fired.”
Like ancient Egypt, we have had seven good years preceeding your election as mayor to the City of Yonkers. Unfortunately for us, you have given us the seven bad years. Very soon it will be time for the people of Yonkers to be delivered from your grip and be led to better times.
What was stored up under the leadership of former Mayor John Spencer, you have squandered. Your promises of economic development, new sources of revenue, better services, promises of shared and consolidated services with the Yonkers Board of Education (YBoE), as well as adequate funding to deal with their (YBoE) annual deficits, has all been for naught.
Your overall development plans have collapsed or stand idle. Tax revenues have dwindled, municipal and educational services after seven years have not been shared, no less consolidated. And you have intentionally allowed uniform services to bleed overtime costs and knowingly permitted the last year of pension buildup, which you know increases retirement costs. As an example; the deputy mayor’s bother, the person who received the highest overtime payout earned over $250,000 in his last year of employment in the City of Yonkers.
You Mr Mayor have dropped the ball on a full court press in Albany to adequately fund our public school system.
Some people would say you Mayor Amicone you have been asleep at the switch. I contend you don’t even know were the switch is.
Your failures as our mayor is all around us. It has finally caught up with you, Mayor Amicone. Please, as you “save” Lopez, Peterson, Modugno, and so many others of you your ilk, please try not to damage what is left. Like the Democrats in congress, leave us something to work with in 20 months.
Let our city go
