Yonkers, NY -- On February 25, 2010 at approximately 8:14 a.m. police responded to the area of 28 Chestnut St. on a report on a dispute involving a male with a gun. Upon arrival police were approached by several people who related that a black male wearing a black and white jacket with white writing on the back, black jeans and black sneakers was seen pointing a silver handgun at a female. Police received additional information that the male with the handgun then handed the gun to an unidentified black female described as heavy set and wearing a do-rag. Police canvassed the area and located the male, later identified as Albert A. Crooks d.o.b. 9/25/80 of 175 Stanley Av., walking on Chestnut St @ Linden St. The male was identified by witnesses and subsequently placed under arrest for Menacing. Continuing their search for the female with the handgun, police officers located a female, later identified as Devin Smith d.o.b. 1/10/78, in the hallway of 30 Chestnut St. Ms. Smith was observed tossing several items which were recovered by police. 84 plastic bags of marijuana and a box of ammunition containing 35 rounds were recovered. Police charged Ms. Smith with Criminal Possession of Marijuana 4th degree. No handgun was recovered. Detectives are continuing with the investigation. No other details will be released at this time.
On February 25, 2010 at 4:03 p.m. police responded to 17 North Broadway on a report of a past robbery. There, they spoke to a 21 year old Tarrytown, NY resident who related that as he was walking in the area of 17 North Broadway he was approached by two black males who exited a black Honda (no plate information). The first male, described as 20 years old, 5’9” 170 lbs., displayed a black handgun. The second male described as 20 years old, 5’10” 170 lbs., displayed a knife. The suspects pushed the victim against a wall and removed his backpack which contained a cell phone, Sony video camera, and a Russian Passport. The suspects then removed the victim’s wallet from his pants and removed his currency. The suspects then threw the wallet to the ground and fled in the black Honda. Detectives are investigating.
