Breaking News: Ken Jenkins Next Chairman of the Westchester County Board of Legislators By Hezi Aris
White Plains, NY -- Westchester County Board Legislator Ken Jenkins last night won the vote to be the next Chairman of the Westchester County Board of Legislators. Upon confirmation in January 2010, Mr Jenkins will resign as Chairman of the Yonkers Democratic Committee at the First Executive Committee meeting in January 2010.
Well will he finally resign as City Char. of the Dem. Pty.? Surely his head must be far too big to wear two hats.

I am nauseous. This guy is such a political hack. Lets see how much taxpayer money he spends on his "staff" and "perks."

This guy is a BOOB from Yonkers, just 2 years ago is was nothing, now he will run county gov. WOW, things have to change, but not this way!

This is a Nick/Mike Spano power grab. By getting Jenkins as the County Chairman he will most likely not be interested in running for Mayor in Yonkers

Hi Hezi, no one ever runs against Ken Jenkins, he has no competition, no opponents, and no votes, we should all
hold that kind of power in the palm of our hands.
Happy Holidays!

Hey Ken...you better watch out you better not cry you better not pout I'm telling you why, - WHERE DO YOU REALLY LIVE???
Posted by: anon | December 17, 2009 at 13:16
Now, I am definitely moving out of this County.
This guy is such a phony lightweight, it is comical.
He speaks poorly, has a very poor image and does everything on the basis of a political deal (mostly with Nick Spano)
Rumor has it that he doesn't even live in the district.
Wake up Westchester voters. It's time to return to Republican control of this county. Look what the dems have given you - Andy Spano who made us the highest taxed county in the country and now this incompetent unqualified idiot who will spew the most ridiculous of thoughts for the next two years.
Wake up. I feel like crying considering the stature that Westchester once had which has now been totally destroyed by the Spanos.
PS. Blame Mike Spano, the newest turncoat democrat, for this one.

10 out of 17 of the county seats went uncontested said the Journal News. It's not just Ken, it's the whole system and the stupid party brainwashed idiots who vote these stinkers in year in, year out.

Good move FEDS! I did that yrs. ago.
These parties are two wings on the same bird of prey.
Posted by: anonymous | December 18, 2009 at 08:33
OK, Ken got what he wanted...now watch and see which Spano relative/lackey becomes the new Democrat Chairman. It isn't enough for Nick that he ran the Republican and Conservative Parties into the ground. Nick wants the trifecta!

Bad move Ken! Defending Soto makes you look like a real slim-bag. For the sake of your new position, you should a least try and pretend you have some integrity.

I keep seeing questions on where Jenkins lives...is there soemthing we should know?
Posted by: ANON | December 18, 2009 at 15:45
Yeah, he doesn't live in the district he represents. Gives a bogus address.
Posted by: anonymous | December 18, 2009 at 19:49
Ken,
Are you accepting a county paid for car as Ryan did??? if yes, explain why and what it will cost us please.

the issue is residence not domocile..unlike
mr soto who had only one residence but gave
a fraudulent address as his voting address
an address with which he had no conneciton,
mr jenkins maintains a residence which is
separate from his family's inside the district...to satisfy the requirement of "domocile" it simply has to be the
place that YOU consider to be your permanent address...regardless of how many
other residences you may or may not have
indicia of domicile are things like where
you file yor tax returns, where you register your cars and pay insurance premiums where you vote etc...kens residence
satisfies the requirements of the new york
state election law..and that is all that is
necessary..
Posted by: ANON | December 19, 2009 at 14:18
from a US Circuit Court of Appeals Decision on the meaning of domicile for purposes of
voting in a particular election district
"New York courts have held that, rather than compel persons in appellants' circumstances to establish to the satisfaction of a registrar of voters or a court that one home or the other is their principal, permanent residence, they can choose between them. See People v. O'Hara, 96 N.Y.2d 378, 385 (2001) ("[A]n individual having two residences may choose one to which she has *legitimate, significant and continuing attachments as her residence for purposes of the Election Law.'" (quoting Ferguson v. McNab, 60 N.Y.2d 598, 600 (1983)). This pragmatic approach lessens the burdens on registrars, who in most cases need only verify an address, and on people like appellants, who otherwise might be turned down at both places and have to go to court in order to be able to vote anywhere. New York's solution to the multiple home problem is, therefore, quite favorable to appellants and hardly one that can be said to disadvantage them.

can someone explain the above in everyday English?
Posted by: ANON | December 19, 2009 at 19:29
sure if you have two residences you can choose which is to be considered your domocile for voting purposes....so even
if ken has two homes he gets to pick the
one thats his voting residence

And that's why this whole democracy thing in Westchester county is pure farce. No wonder less than 305 of the people vote. The people know it's a farce and there's no one or no way to change it, so they stay home.
Posted by: Democracy where? | December 20, 2009 at 10:10
people stay home not because they think its a farce..they stay home because they are not
engaged in local politics and dont really care much about it..they figure their garbage is going to get picked up no matter what they do..then there are the 30% or so
that do follow along and turn out..but having two residences is no big deal..the issue is whether the elected official is serving his constituents..ken lives in yonkers has always participated in yonkers political affairs and whether he lives on one block or the next it doesn't change a thing...now pedro espada for example lives in mamaroneck and votes in the Bronx that raises a totally different set of concerns...the federal court pointed out
in the above decison that another way to test domocile is whether the person has
an interest in the outcome of the election and clearly ken does in that living in
the city that he represents is not like living in the suburbs and running for office
in the barrio...having said all that you will note that those who have challenged his
residence notably the guardian newspaper plays fast and loose with the facts and the
law..its why the federal lawsuit accusing janet difiore of conspiring to launch a ny
city grand jury investigation was thrown out several weeks ago..because the owner and the editor take great liberties in attempting to portray themselves as interested in preserving democracy when what they realy are attempting to do is to dominate the oonversation and inject themselves into the discussion even this week their issue Continued to accuse difiore of not prosecuting alleged election fraud against Wilson soto ..but as you can see from the artilicle in the tribune he was indeed Charged with election fraud by the da’s office..so the guardian only prints what It wants when it wants which accounts for why the candidates they backed did so Poorly the past few years…they have no credibility and anything you read in
That paper is based on the personal biased view of Richard blassberg the editor Or sam zherka the owner..Its hard to tell whether
zherka is buying into blassbergs conspiracy
mindset or whether zherka actually believes
his own hype...but as an aside if jenkins
actually had real legal issues with his
residence don't you think ryan or kaplowitz
would have used it to get the board to
vote for them not ken for chairman
