Yonkers has remained the butt of jokes dating back as far ago as the middle of the last century. Yonkers envisioned a future for itself that has escaped her grasp. City Hall’s propensity for turning criticism and inquiry into personal affront remains the 14-years old recipe that has robbed this administration from accumulating any accolades over which they may be proud.

I, Michael Longo, am the owner of the building at 5 Anderson Street in New Rochelle, that is part of the proposed redevelopment site called LeCount Square.
We signed an option contract with Cappelli Enterprises in 2005. We did a blended deal with very little money upfront with a retail space to be delivered to us at the completion of the project. Cappelli Enterprises wanted to vacate the building of the tenants and did so back in 2006. At the end of 2007 Capelli Enterprises exercised the option which consumated our deal with them. They are suppose to pay us a monthly fee to cover the mortgage, expenses, and income/profit on the building we had before and they have complete control of the building.

As the year marches to a close, it is an opportune moment to review what the New York Legislature has accomplished this year and how their action or inaction has affected our Village.
The 2009-2010 State Budget maintains our “AIM” or State aid to local government stipend of $70,282. Though a very small number relative to other communities, the loss of this unrestricted aid would represent a 1% increase on the Village tax bill. Unfortunately, due to the drastic State financial shortfalls, we believe this amount is in jeopardy in the 2010-2011 State Budget.

The Mexican war on our border has brought calls for renewing the assault rifle ban. A number of media pundits such as General Wesley Clark, have called for renewing the ban. The most extensive rhetoric came from Secretary of State Hillary Clinton during an interview given to CNN on her recent trip to Mexico. Sec. Clinton stated, “The ban got assault weapons off our streets and protected our police officers.”
Nairobi, Kenya -- Nowhere is it more apparent that women feed the world than in the largest slum in Kenya. Packed full of people, Kibera slum in Nairobi is populated by anywhere from 700,000 to a million people. In an area of of about 225 hectares, the equivalent of just over half the size of Central Park in Manhattan, the women we met are growing food not just to feed their families, but to also to generate income.

"When I was your age," has been a guaranteed prelude to eye-rolling in intergenerational discourse since Adam and Eve blew the blessings of paradise and money made their world run aground.
Among the earliest lessons my father sought to teach me was that whatever one couldn't afford, one simply did without.
His seminal sermon might have been called "The Parable Of The Kite String," which went something (nay, exactly) like this:

“With the holiday season upon us, many good-willed individuals express their generosity by giving to those less fortunate,” says Lawrence Loesch, former NYPD Deputy Chief and Vice President/General Manager for AlliedBarton Security Services. “Unfortunately, that can also create an opportunity for scam artists to take advantage of the kindness of others. It is important to make certain your generosity is received by those who need it most. So when giving this holiday season remember to use your head, as well as your heart, by following Lawrence

The New York Giants began the season by defeating every NFL team they faced for the first four weeks of the season. The talk by die-hard Giants fans was that the Giants could run the table, that is, win all of the remaining games of the season and go into the playoffs undefeated.

Washington Set the Day
In 1789, as November 26.
Lincoln Made it Annual.
Wednesday evening, we sent you President Abraham Lincoln’s Thanksgiving Proclamation, which he issued on October 3, 1863. That eloquent statement of gratitude has been attributed by historians to Secretary of State William H. Seward. (Lincoln appointed his principal rival for the Presidential nomination, a New Yorker, as Secretary of State). Lincoln may have been contemplating his Gettysburg Address, which he delivered on November 19, two score and seven days after the Thanksgiving Proclamation.

Ed Koch Commentary: Keeping Israel Safe Through Deterrence By Edward I. Koch
Supporters of Israel, Jew and non-Jew alike, are angry that President Obama changed the longstanding U.S. policy on the legitimacy of Jewish settlements on the West Bank. That policy under Democrat and Republican presidents before him was that those settlements, while “impediments to peace,” were legal. The State Department under Secretary of State Hillary Clinton now refers to such settlements as illegal. Why is it reasonable for Arabs to live in the State of Israel and not acceptable for Jews to live on the West Bank?
