Yonkers, NY -- On October 1, 2009 members of the 3rd Precinct Anti-Crime Unit conducted a surveillance of the area of Riverdale Av. and Ludlow St. in response to recent gang violence. During the investigation officers observed a 22 year old black male wearing a grey sweatshirt and blue jeans walk between the alley of 119 and 117 Ludlow St. They then observed this male remove a black handgun from his right front pants pocket and place it underneath a large stuffed animal. Officers then detained the male and recovered a black .38 caliber revolver with a defaced serial number and loaded with 5 rounds of ammunition. Arrested was:

On 10-04-09 members of the Yonkers Police Detective Division made an arrest in connection with the murder of Tyrone Stone, which occurred on 09-30-09 in front of 41 Morris Street. Shaman Irvin, an 18 year old male who reports multiple unverified addresses in Yonkers and the Bronx was taken into custody and charged with Murder 2nd degree. He will be arraigned in Yonkers Criminal Court on 10-05-09.

On 10-04-09 at approximately 12:35 a.m., members of the 4th Precinct responded to possible shots fired at 51 McFadden Circle. Responding units located a 21 year old male victim opposite 131 Yonkers Avenue with three bullet wounds to his buttocks. The victim related while in Stefanic Park he was approached by a black male, approximately 20 years of age, 5’11”, weighing 190 pounds, and wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt. According to the victim, the suspect fired numerous times and fled through Stefanic Park towards Walnut Street. The victim was transported to a local area hospital where he was treated and released. Responding units canvassed for the suspect, but he was not located. Anyone with information can please contact the Detective Division at 377-7724.
On 10-06-09 at 9:45 a.m., a funeral mass will be held at St. Margaret of Cortona Roman Catholic located at 6000 Riverdale Avenue in the Bronx for Yonkers Firefighter Patrick Joyce. This funeral is for a line of duty death and a very large crowd of uniformed personnel from the tri-state area are expected to attend. Riverdale Avenue will be closed from Valentine Lane in Yonkers to 254th Street in the Bronx from approximately 9:00 a.m. to approximately 3:00 p.m. All area residents are urged to plan accordingly.
