Yonkers, NY -- On 10-14-09 at approximately 6:00 p.m., Detective John Mallon and Investigator George Whalen of the Westchester County District Attorney Narcotics Initiative (WDANI) were investigating a report of cocaine sales in the area of South Broadway. The officers were assisted by the N.Y.P.D. Bronx Narcotics Unit. Marcial Martinez, a 30 year old resident of 373 South Broadway was found to be in possession of approximately 100 grams of cocaine valued at approximately $4,000.00. The suspect was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 2nd degree and will be arraigned at Yonkers Criminal Court on 10-15-09.
On 10-14-09 at approximately 07:14, members of the 3rd Precinct responded to 10 Coyle Place on a report of a past robbery. A 39 year old female area resident related that approximately 15 minutes in the past, while walking in the Caryl Avenue Municipal Parking Lot, she was approached by a white male, approximately 20 years old, 5’5” tall, 160 pounds, and wearing an orange or red jacket and blue jeans. The suspect displayed a small black handgun and the victim turned over her handbag which contained approximately $200.00, and assorted paperwork. The suspect then fled the scene toward Van Cortlandt Park Avenue. Responding officers canvassed the area for the suspect but he was not located. On 10-14-09 at approximately 10:00 p.m., numerous 4th Precinct units responded to 77 Locust Hill Avenue on a report of shots fired. Responding officers located a 43 year old male area resident with lacerations to his face. The victim related that he with a friend and was visiting a girlfriend in the building when he was approached by five black males in the lobby. A physical altercation ensued and the victim related that he ran out of the building at which time approximately six shots were fired in an unknown direction. Officers canvassed the area for the suspects and possible shell casings but none were located. The victim was transported to a local hospital where he was treated and released.
