Yonkers, NY -- On 10-12-09 at 11:59 p.m. numerous 4th Precinct units responded to the area of 155 Ridge Avenue on a report of shots fired. While canvassing the area for possible suspects, Police Officers William Quirk and Daniel Egan observed a suspicious male at Vineyard Avenue and Father Finian Drive. The officers questioned the male and after making suspicious movements, the male fled the scene on foot.
The officers pursued the suspect and he was subsequently taken into custody. A loaded .45 caliber handgun was recovered by responding officers. Shell casings were recovered in front of 155 Ridge Avenue. No injuries were reported at the scene. One parked vehicle sustained damage to its rear window, and the front door to 170 Ridge Avenue was apparently damaged by a round that went through the outer frame of the door.
Hasani K. Pompey, a 21 year old male who resides at 168 Ridge Avenue was charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd and Resisting Arrest. He will be arraigned at Yonkers Criminal Court on 10-12-09.
