Comment from Democrat candidate Ted WinnickiYonkers, NY -- WestCons PAC, better known as the Westchester County Conservative Political Action Committee sent out a political mailer that many potential voters received today. The side addressed to the voter boldly directed the voter to cast their vote on Line D. When the recipient flips to the other side, they are greeted by the image of Westchester County District Attorney Janet DiFiore on one side and Yonkers City Council District 6 candidate on the other side. Ms DiFiore is running for re-election, Mr Larkin’s effort is his first. Both candidates have been endorsed by the Westchester County Conservative Committee. At first glance, it seems as though Ms DiFiore is endorsing the candidacy of Mr Larkin. That is not the case.

The political landscape is filled with protagonists of every background imaginable. Some young; others old. Some bear formal educational backgrounds; others do not. Some possess a charismatic demeanor; others less so. The People have evolved alongside the politicians for as long as history is remembered. It seemed The People were always one step behind; today’s technologically savvy citizen is as informed, if at times, not more so than the political animal that has outwitted us for our vote. We have often lost the struggle to maintain hold of our vote, finding it taken by “others” for reasons we do not hold dear. Why do we cast the vote we cast? Do we vote for the people whose names are listed on the ballot or are they simply stand-ins for the power brokers who control them?

What's Behind Political Torpor as Nov. 3 Nears?
The mayoral race is fast approaching its finish line. Election Day, November 3, is just five days away. We have not seen a mayoral election which aroused so little excitement since Mayor Robert F. Wagner (Dem-Lib) won a second term in 1957 by defeating the Republican candidate, Robert K. Christenberry, who was postmaster of New York during the Eisenhower administration. Wagner received 1,508,775, or 67.8% of the total. Christenberry received 585,768 votes, 26.3% of the total. There were more Republicans living in New York City fifty-two years ago.

Yonkers, NY -- Lt. Phelan stated, “The men and women of the Yonkers Police Benevolent Association and Captain's, Lieutenant's and Sergeant's Association are proud to endorse Mario De Giorgio for City Council in the 4th District. We believe Mario is a man of the people and truly understands what people need, especially when it comes to public safety. As most Yonkers residents are aware, the Police Department budget was slashed by $5.3 million dollars this year causing a rise in both violent and property crimes. Because there are less Police Officers on the street it is hard to combat quality of life issues and our department has become more reactive as opposed to proactive. Unfortunately these issues become larger problems and in some instances serious crimes. We have faith that Mario De Giorgio will make the fiscally responsible choices so the men and women of the Yonkers Police Department can effectively fight crime in Yonkers.”
