White Plains, NY -- All five NYPD unions have endorsed Westchester's District Attorney Janet DiFiore.
Patrick Lynch, the leader of the Patromen's Benevolent Association of the City of New York (NYPD PBA), said, "Your proven track record and commitment to law enforcement are well recognized. As police officers who face, every day, the chance that we might be called upon to make the ultimate sacrifice, the members of the PBA will be honored to have you representing our members."
The City of New York Police Department Unions which represent nearly 40,000 officers, detectives, and supervisors are:
Patrolmen's Benevolent Association
Captain's Endowment Association
Lieutenants Benevolent Association
Sergeants Benevolent Association
Detectives' Endowment Association
President of the Sergeants Benevolent Association, Edward Mullins, said, "...we respect the rule of law and we believe very strongly that the job of ensuring the safety of our fellow citizens is perhaps the most sacred responsibility in our society. We feel that you have exemplified that responsibility in the past four years as the chief law enforcement officer of Westchester County."
And Michael Palladino, the President of the Detectives' Endowment Association, added, "Your outstanding record as the District Attorney and as a former judge, as well as your continued commitment to public service, has earned our respect and support."
DiFiore proudly accepted such a strong acknowledgment of her leadership abilities by these powerful unions. "Crime knows no boundaries or county lines. So its imperative there is cooperation, collaboration and a free flow of information between Westchester, its police departments, and the NYPD. We facilitate this through the Westchester Intelligence Center, which I spearheaded and opened in 2008. The Intel Center is a a clearinghouse of criminal intelligence, tracking gangs, illegal guns, drugs, organized crime, burglary and other criminal patterns. The NYPD are strong partners in our fight against crime here in Westchester."
Successful investigations involving the NYPD and Westchester County resulted in the identification and apprehension of suspects in cases including a recent Yonkers homicide, gang activity linked to Bronx robberies, and a Mount Vernon shooting incident in which ballistics information linked a potential suspect with a New York City gun-related arrest.
