Yonkers, NY -- The sunshine had set for the night of September 28, 2009. The horrors of night caused a 47 year old woman to take to the roof at 80 Riverdale Avenue. The demons she saw were not shared, still the woman tried desperately to cling to life, tethered only wirelessly with someone at the other end of a cellphone. As she continued being engaged on the telephone, Police Officers Thomas Spaun and Billy Zielinski, both assigned to the Third Precinct alighted the roof at 11:08 PM. She saw them; she climbed over the rooftop fence to avoid them, clearing a path to jump to her demise. Thwarting her delusional plan, Officers Spaun and Zielinski were able to position themselves in such a way to deny her final step, affording her the gift of life for an undisclosed amount of time.
She was given medical treatment at St. Joseph's Medical Center.
Yonkers Tribune salute Police Officers Thomas Spaun and Billy Zielinski for keeping the polish on the YPD shield gleaming with pride.
