White Plains, NY -- Members and leaders of the Westchester County Conservative Party, who are alleging in New York State Supreme Court that forged signatures were used to put Westchester County Executive Andy Spano (D) on the Conservative Party line this November, today asked New York State Conservative Party Chairman Mike Long (pictured) to call for a criminal investigation into the matter.
The allegation is that more than 80 signatures were forged on proxy ballots to hand Andy Spano, a known liberal democrat, the Party's line.Further, those that allege forgeries assert that at the Party's June 2009 Converntion 93% of Westchester Conservative leaders were supporting county executive candidate Rob Astorino (R-I). They suggest that forgeries were used to change the results.
"The integrity of the New York State Conservative Party, indeed, of the entire democratic electoral process in the State, is being jeopardized through what appears to be outright fraud in Westchester," said Westchester Conservative Party Corresponding Secretary Hugh Fox, Jr.. "Forgery is a crime, and there is very good reason to believe that forgery is involved here. The rank and file Westchester County Conservatives are asking Chairman Long to request a formal criminal inquiry into this process."
