conduct an intimate ceremony in the vicinity of 50 North Broadway on Friday,
May 1, 2009 at 5:30pm to acknowledge and honor the lives of freed Yonkers enslaved
Africans that remained with their former owner, the Philipse family, until
their deaths in reflection over Yonkers role in the abolition of slavery.

Sees “Serious Consequences” if Board Fails to Comply
Yonkers, NY -- Yonkers City Council Minority Leader Liam McLaughlin (R-C, 4) today warned the
Yonkers Board of Education that there would be “serious consequences” if it
failed to comply with an inquiry from the Yonkers Inspector General Phil Zisman regarding
the Board’s annual $65 million health care expense.

White Plains, NY -- Lev L. Dassin, (pictured) the Acting United States Attorney for the Southern
District of New York, and Joseph M. Demarest Jr., the Assistant Director in
Charge of the New York Field Division of the Federal Bureau of Investigation,
announced today that Jose Quinoy, a Detective with the Sleepy Hollow, N.Y.,
Police Department, has been indicted on two counts of violating civil rights

Yonkers, NY -- The City of Yonkers will be conducting emergency repairs on deteriorated
sections of the sewer main on Yonkers Avenue between Walnut and Elm Streets on
the city's west side. The emergency repair work will force multiple lane
closures in both the east- and west-bound directions. However, one lane in each
direction will remain open at all times.
