Murtagh Asks Council to Review Audit Critical of Yonkers IDA

MURTAGH_John Yonkers, NY -- In a letter to Councilmembers Joan Gronowski and Dee Barbato, co-chairs of the Municipal Operations Committee, Yonkers Councilman John Murtagh (R-5) has recommended that the Committee convene a hearing to review a recent Audit by the NYS Comptroller which audit was critical of the Yonkers Industrial Development Agency.

“It is important that the taxpayers of Yonkers know that they are getting real and measurable benefits from IDA sponsored projects” Murtagh said. He added that “it is equally important that the hardwork of the Mayor and others not be unfairly tarnished by these allegations if they are unfounded. What it comes down to is that the people of Yonkers need accurate information”

“In the last few years we have seen a renaissance on our waterfront and the rebirth of major attractions like Yonkers Raceway and Cross County Mall which, frankly, had grown tired. If there are improvements that can make these development efforts even better we should embrace them. On the other hand, we also shouldn’t let the critics cast any doubt on the success of the development initiatives already underway”. Murtagh stated.

“Yonkers has come so very far in just a few short years that we have to address questions and criticisms head on so that the progress can continue”.

Murtagh said that he had spoken to both Councilmember Gronowski and Councilmember Barbato and anticipated that the Municipal Operations Committee would take the issue up promptly.

Better get back on your meds. Pier View closed, other business hang on by a thread or already have moved, litter all over the street.
Some renaissance.

And the same is true on Central Avenue, Larchmont, New Rochelle, and even parts of White Plains. Get real, you don't seem to get what's happening in the economy all over.

What's the real reason this place closed?

DUH!!! You validate the point. There ain't NO
renaissance.

yeah right the whole damn country is going down the tubes, but yonkers is having a renaisssance.

Ask questions about NValley. How much was spent? How much is still owed?

I hope this guy isn't planning on running for mayor.

good job murtagh, we need you to stand up to this adminstration..

The point of this I think is good. After all the hype, all the "visioning" and all the hoop-la...Ammicone is LIMP now and probably a lame duck from here on out.
Lets look into the books to see HOW rotten all the deal were with IDA & CDA's and BIDS and NMDC(or whatever it is) SHADE SHADE SHADEYYYYYY stuff and I live here and I pay taxes and I grew up here and I pay taxes my fam lives here they pay taxes and freidns live here they pay taxes...We are getting USED & ABUSED as citizens of Yonkers with rights under OUR constitution & state law.
WHEN are we going to demand changes HERE in Yonkers too?

Only issue there is NOT 1 person I would stand behind in the "idealistic" sense of things. All the politicosss stink locally.

McLaughlin for Council President!!!

Is that Mclaughlin boy out of prison yet?

Can't wait to come back to the US to tell my story.

McLaughlin for Council President!!!

McLAUGHLIN WILL WIN!!!!!!!!

To the McLaughlin fan: Have another drink and shut up. McLaughlin is a mutton head.

IDA CDA YPA all are being investigated, or so I overheard a member of the Mayors staff say at Friday police promotions-somebody need to watch the store
