Yorktown, NY -- Surrounded by more than 200 enthusiastic supporters at his annual
‘Homeland Security Dinner’ event, Assemblyman Greg Ball (R, C, I – Patterson) announced the formation a U.S. Congressional Exploratory Committee for the 19th District in New York and reiterated his focus on jump-starting the state economy, getting the state budget under control and lowering property taxes. “Two years ago, I went to Albany to fight for the people,” Ball said during a speech at the event held at the historic Traveler’s Rest restaurant. “Everywhere I go, middle class families are struggling and local business are barely making ends meet. People in my district, and elsewhere, are asking me to go to Washington to take my fight for blue collar New Yorkers to Congress.”
Joining Ball at the dinner were the Republican county chairs from each of the five counties in the 19th Congressional District: Dutchess, Orange, Putnam, Rockland, and Westchester. Also in attendance were numerous members of the Assembly (past and present), local officials, several prominent business owners and labor leaders, as well as committee chairs and members from towns throughout the congressional district.
“Middleclass Americans and their families are under attack by a government controlled by powerful special interests, and weak kneed politicians,” Ball said. “By putting politics over the people and partisanship above sound policy, our government has left us facing tough economic times. We need leaders in Washington willing to be on the front lines, fighting for the people, and against the war on our middle class.”
Ball also took the opportunity to express his displeasure with the failure of both Congress and the State Legislature to address the concerns of the overburdened taxpayers in the Hudson Valley.
“As a state legislator, I have learned a great deal and know now, more than ever before, that change in our government is desperately needed. As a young person and a veteran, I have a huge vested interest in the outcome of events at the national level and I have demonstrated my ardent commitment to a form of leadership that goes beyond politics,” Ball added.
