Westchester Guardian Publisher Sam Zherka Arrested in Mount Vernon

MOUNT VERNON, NY – Sam Zherka, publisher of the Westchester Guardian weekly newspaper, was arrested in Mount Vernon charged with disorderly conduct after a verbal confrontation with police at an auction to which he arrived too late to be admitted entrance.

The city-run auction of public properties held at  Mount Vernon City Hall does not allow entrance to anyone after the auction begins. Zherka was late to the event.

“I can tell you he certainly will have his day in court,” said Mount Vernon Police Commissioner David Chong.

Zherka was released without bail. Zherka has stipulated that he will challenge the arrest under his First Amendment constitutional rights.

inserting himself into the arena to see

frivolous lawsuits...but he will not fool
the federal courts..and after demonstrating
just what an arrogant bully he really is
in Mt Vernon, this will end up costing
him plenty...all of this to remove
his name from the NYPD DATA base which
he says classifies him wrongfully as
"an albanian mobster"..and he may be
right..so take a lie detector test
and prove it...in fact I challenge him
