HASTINGS-On-HUDSON, NY -- The New York City Department of Environmental Protection has RESCHEDULED the shutdown of the Catskill Aqueduct for repairs to Thursday, June 19, 2008 for a period of 24 hours. The Catskill Aqueduct currently supplies over 90% of water for Hastings-on-Hudson on a daily basis. New York City claims that they will maintain supply to the Hastings-on-Hudson area through alternate means; even so, United Water New Rochelle wants to give everyone advance notice in case any problems arise. United Water New Rochelle is confident it will be able to maintain normal operations, though the public is advised that the possibility does exist for discolored water, reduced pressures and lower flows throughout the system during this event. United Water New Rochelle is recommending all customers curtail any unnecessary use of water on Thursday and Friday, June 19 and 20, 2008, especially lawn irrigation and other outdoor water usage.
