Senator Stewart-Cousins Arranges and Concludes Meeting with NYS Budget Director Anglin
ALBANY, NY – NYS Senator Andrea Stewart-Cousins, having concluded a meeting she arranged with NYS Budget Director Laura Anglin, and Bruce Gyory, representing Governor David Paterson’s office, having invited Senator Jeff Klein, Assemblymen Gary Pretlow and Mike Spano, and Mayor Phil Amicone, among other concerned parties, is encouraged by the face-to-face meeting which told of Yonkers unique situation with respect to New York State’s own budget deficit.

Senator Stewart-Cousins noted, “There has been a structural inequity in what the state gives Yonkers.” Overall, “It doesn’t address the financial disparity that has existed for so long.” Explaining the changes that have come to pass over these past years, specifically the changing imprint of Yonkers landscape, and the operations expected to generate revenue in Yonkers to unburden the state coffers in coming years, Senator Stewart-Cousins commended Budget Director Anglin and Governor Paterson’s representative Gyory for maintaining an open mind toward Yonkers.
The meeting was important because it brought all the protagonists together. Each was made privy to every effort and personal commitment each brought to the table to meet Yonkers needs with full knowledge of New York State’s own desperate need to meet its financial obligations statewide.
With Yonkers evolving toward a more fiscally sound model, New York State’s approach of keeping an open mind toward Yonkers plight and need, coupled with the resolve by the entire Albany delegation to transparently tell of Yonkers past successes, and present and future challenges, may be the most powerful tool in closing Yonkers budget gap as the city moves forward toward greater financial standing.
As the deadline for the NYS Budget comes ever closer, likely to be extended beyond the deadline of March 31, 2008, Yonkers will need to be patient, comforted by the knowledge that our elected officials are doing all they can to see Yonkers through another year of fiscal challenges.

She didn't say that.
Yonkers will get some extra money out of Albany, but not all it deserves. The Albany budget will be late again. To promote tourism, Paterson is said to be going on a hotel tour with a special assistant from White Plains.

Yonkers is a disgraceful City and deserves all of the laughter that is sent in it's direction.
Up to Albany with the begging bowl, and the next day giving developers taxbreaks, cheap land and real estate, and hitting home owners with higher property taxes. What a hoot, or is it a toot.

You are confused, probably as usual.
The laughter is directed AT Albany, because of Spitzer, because of the bozo Paterson, and because of the worst Legislature in the entire USA. Thanks to all of those, NY is the laughingstock of the nation right now.

andrea is a joke! i heard her say that yonkers isn't getting anymore money. she is to blame for all this!

If cuts are going to be "across the board" as the Mayor says, then it has to include some of his own staff. And aren't some state, county, and local agencies overlapping or redundant. Businesses don't run that way. Sometimes a business-like approach works. Bloomberg has used his formidable business discipline and has made government more efficient and reduced costs. He runs it from a "bullpin" office wehre he sees everyone around him on the job, and not just in a back corner office. He fires you if you "hang out."

Anyone else annoyed with the 24% increase from the County? What a joke!!!!
Posted by: | March 27, 2008 at 02:11 PM
hey thats only chump change if you live in
greenburgh...the county portion of the
tax bill is tiny compared with town and
school taxes...even feiner didn't like his
own budget..but the schools still want more
and more ...each district has its own superintentendt..even though the district
is only one square mile....helllo!

Andrea is "SIMPLY THE BEST."
Posted by: | March 27, 2008 at 03:23 PM
Please, Nick Spano......announce your candidacy!!!! And break your ties with Amicone. They'll kill you in the long run!!
Posted by: | March 27, 2008 at 03:25 PM
Well, Mr Edelmen... that's not chump change to me. I'm having a hard time staying in Westchester with these ever increasing taxes. 2-3% raises a year and 24% increase in taxes don't jive. Spano should work in the private sector so that he just might understand what the working person actually has to deal with. We can't just get a 25% raise because the boss is my friend!

what has Stewart Cousins done for Yonkers? "Arranging" and "concluding" a "meeting" will not get the job done in Albany. Can she plug the budget gap or not???????
Yonkers and Westchester has only suffered since Nick Spano left.
Posted by: | March 27, 2008 at 03:59 PM
it is a fact--------cousins has told the unions that yonkers gets their fair share....and that places like buffalo need more aid.
Posted by: | March 27, 2008 at 06:10 PM
andrea is a disgrace - i said it here before and i say it again now --- DON'T BLAME ME I VOTED FOR SPANO!
Posted by: | March 27, 2008 at 06:47 PM
ANDREA SIMPLY THE WORST!
Posted by: | March 27, 2008 at 06:48 PM
Cousins has proved time and again she is nothing more than an incompetent fool putting on a disguise for all to see. However any money brought foward to yonkers will be mis-managed , stolen , or both. Boy am I happy I moved north. Can any one tell me of any thing Cousins has done so far?

ANDREA will be re-elected with big margins so...get use to it. ANREA is SIMPLY A WINNER!!
