Majority Leader Annabi Announces Vote on New Law

Targets Dangerous Weapons in Schools

YONKERS, NY -- At the request of the Yonkers Police Department, Yonkers City Council Majority Leader Sandy Annabi, (D - District 2) has brought to a vote legislation to outlaw the carrying of box cutters and other dangerous weapons on school grounds. The legislation was discussed in several meetings of the Legislation & Codes Committee, where it was reviewed and commented upon by the Yonkers Police Department, community members, and the Law Department, including the City’s principal prosecutor. The City Council will be voting on the measure tonight, March 25, 2008 at their regularly scheduled meeting at 8pm.

Said Annabi, “I want the residents of Yonkers to make note - once the City Council votes and passes this item, the new law will target possession of a variety of knives on school property; all in an effort to make our schools safer. The legislation extends the definition of school property to include school transportation services, and any public or private institution under the control of school officials for the purposes of providing educational instruction to students. This legislation also addresses new types of weapons which were not commonly seen when the code was first enacted – such as gravity knives, box cutters, non-metallic knives, shurikens, and nunchucks.”

“I am  requesting that the Yonkers Schools – via the Trustees, the Superintendent, and our PTA’s – help to ensure that all of our teachers, staff, parents, and especially our students are made aware of this new law; that they receive a fair warning of the consequences of violating this law; but also that this is being done for their safety. Parents should take heed and ensure their children comply,” concluded Annabi.

tonights council meeting was of the worst specticles i have ever seen. Disorganized, confused, leaderless, just a total mess.

Only one thing was clear..

Annabi is running for council president on a phony ethics platform in a feeble attempt to convince the feds how "honest" she is.

The Council meetings are usually the way 10:21 described tonight's. As a group, they are an embarrassment. And Lesnick is the ringmaster of the circus. Chuckles the Clown is also the ringmaster.

Annabi isn't fooling anyone. The Feds have a close eye on her and Jereis, and some others. There will be results too. Might take a few more months, but something will happen. Lots of unhappy campers have been parading up to be interviewed by the Feds.

Once again statements made with nothing to back them up!

If you ask around, make a few phone calls, maybe you can find out for yourself who some of them have been or will be. But the Feds won't tell you.

You already know all the Council except Annabi and the newcomer Gronowski have been subpoenaed. Martinelli appears not to have been. But there are others who have been there or will be, some no longer in govt.

I'm confused, is Chuck presiding over the council meeting or is it Dee. It's as bad as when Vinny was there.

Dee is obviously running for City Council president. It looks like she will do anything to undermine Chuck, not that he needs any help.
